i'm looking for a 17" laptop
will be using it mostly for watching netflix,youtube etc..and for excell and word.
i would also like to be able to very occasionally use it for 3d printer slicer software and maybe view cad files,cad files and slicer software are not strictly necessary as i have...

Is the GPU your referring to the nvidia geforce rtx 3060 also I can't find any mention of a 2060 on the configurator.
hopefully my last question for you and I hope I'm not opening a can of worms but my son is...
could i increase the size of the first SSD to say 2TB and remove the second one or is it better to have two? also if i was to add a GPU what one would you recommend.

i could go to the configurator and put the most exsensive parts in but throwing money at something is rarely the answer either.
was looking for a little guidance on building a computer to suit my needs but as scott said maybe an off the shelf laptop is the best option
im happy to spend the money needed for pc to last 7-10 years but i dont want to end up with a pc that is way more powerfull then ill ever need.
my problem is i have know idea what i actually need for my intended use.
not sure if im explaining correctly but budget is secondary to pc that is fit...
i want to spend as little as posible but am willing to spend as much as needed to get a pc that is fit for what i need. I just dont want to end up with a computer that is over speced/priced for my needs.
