2x2GB RAM vs 1x4GB RAM In Laptops

Hey, just wondering what generally wins this comparison? I've read some comments about the single being easier to replace and some murmur about the 2x2GB being a little better performance wise? Which would you advise, considering that the 1x4GB is only 8 pound more expensive? Thanks :)

Well if you get (1x4) then you can add another stick to get 8GB in total
Apart from that with one stick apparently you have slightly less stress on the memory controller but the speed difference is negligible.
However what someone else will cover hopefully is whether or not two sticks would run as dual channel which would give a performance boost

I chose 1x4Gb because it left a clear & easy upgrade path (just add another 4Gb memory stick). 2x2Gb would have been (slightly) cheaper but would have meant changing both memory sticks when it came to upgrading thus becoming more expensive and having useless memory.
