3d monitor

Hey guys, im about to purchase a 3d monitor and a gtx 580 pc . But ive never had a 3d monitor or a desktop (apart from the really old 1 i had which i lost my temper with)
I wont be using 3d all the time mainly 2d whilst im using my PC but im not sure how i set that up? Do i do it with the monitor panel or is there something in my GPU i must configure, do i configure it whilst my PC is on? Or do i open my pc up and fiddle with the gpu there?
Also the monitor cable that goes from your monitor into the PC does it go into my GPU or motherboard or somethhing?

You will need an NVIDIA GEFORCE 3D VISION KIT,
& a DVI D dual link cable,(probably supplied with the monitor)
connected from monitor to graphics card.

vanthus is correct as far as setting 3d up once you have a 3d vison kit you need to completly uninstall your graphics card drivers, install the 3d vison kit software then reinstall the graphics card drivers again. once that is complete its just a matter of pressing Ctrl +T to turn 3d on and off
