Hey ;) Is this a new PC you've received or you're to buy it and asking for the specs advice?

If so, we need more details as per below.

If it's your new PC, photos would be nice 👀 😊

€900 is not the sort of budget where you'd be getting a decent gaming PC - more a decent 'office' PC for web-browsing and Microsoft Office work.

Here are my thoughts as to why I don't believe it's good for gaming (assuming 1080p gaming - but without details of the resolution and type of gaming you do, it's all a guess).
  • No upgrade path with the motherboard/PSU (so even if you make some use of it for a year or two, you'd have to replace the whole thing again, rather than just upgrading the CPU/GPU as needed)
  • The 3500X is a single-threaded processor (6-cores / 6 threads)
  • Relatively small, slow SATA SSD - you'll either want a fast m.2 one for the OS and a SATA SSD for game storage/loading, or one bigger m.2 SSD for everything (but then it starts getting expensive)
  • 'Office'-oriented vs gaming motherboard
  • Bullguard is crap, remove it - Windows built-in offering is good enough, and not a resource hog
  • Google Chrome is also a resource hog with privacy issues - try Edge Chromium instead

Honestly, it's pretty much impossible to recommend a gaming system for that amount right now. The pandemic, crypto mining boom, reduced supply and the new card releases have skyrocketed prices meaning that you'd have to add another 50% of your budget to get the 'minimum' gaming system I'd recommend and about double it for a decent 1080p experience.

As much as yes, the system you've specced will play games, it won't be the best and it'll basically be a throw away system when you come to upgrade. The case is cheap and has bad airflow, the motherboard is a very basic pick (more adequate for home/ office use), the RAM is slow, especially for AMD and ideally for gaming you'd want 16GB. 512GB of total storage is minimal these days and with SSD's, they start to reduce in performance at about 75% meaning you have about 380GB of usable space before you hit that boundary. The 550W won't let you upgrade anywhere past a 1660 Super, and the WiFi card is only 2.4Ghz.

With your motherboard, I can tell you've gone for the "Home/ Office" configurator when really the build needs to be on the "Ryzen Extreme Computers" to access some of the parts we need like mobo and faster RAM. Changing this would likely require a call to PCS and a cancel of your order. Below is the minimum spec I'd be comfortable recommending for a gaming system with some decent future upgradability.

I hate to say this but I honestly feel your best course of action would be to cancel your order and wait a few months so you can save and increase your budget and hopefully allow prices to fall, then you'll be able to get a lot more for yor money and a decent system that should last you a number of years with a few GPU swaps and a CPU swap down the road. Alternatively, if you have the funds for a system like the one below, this is the minimum I'd recommend.

Thanks for the feedback, yes I am buying this pc for 1080p gaming on games like fortnite and call of duty, it seems like it is a very weird time to be buying a pc right now for different reasons, but for work and the fact I can’t get my hands on a ps5 or Xbox series x I said I’d make a mid range gaming pc that I could have for about 2-3 years and upgrade then in the future when the time is right. All I really need the pc to do is run at decent frames and graphics and have an overall good performance on games two games, fortnite and warzone. Do you feel like the pc would be able to run them efficiently ?

Minimum for 1080p is somewhere from 1300 Euro at minimum. @JUNI0R, as always, surprising me with capabilities to recommend very decent build for low budgets. 2 years ago same budget would have bought you a better PC, but there are different times with an extremely high demand. One of the best attempt is the above recommended by @JUNI0R . I know it's well above your budget, but this is what we can get now.

Thanks for the feedback, I get what you mean about pc buying being extremely difficult right now. I’ve kind of just for the time being made a very minimal basic pc because of the fact of prices being crazy now and I can’t get my hands on a new generation console. I am only planning on using this pc for mid tier gaming on games fortnite and warzone. All I will really need it to do is run smoothly with good frames and nice graphics on those two games for about 2-3 years, then I feel I could make a considerable upgrade with a bigger purchase which considering this build does have a limited upgrade path, I plan on buying a whole new pc when the time is right in a few years time. But do you feel this pc will be able to smoothly run those two games at 1080p with good frames and graphics, even if it is only for about 2 years?

Yeah times right now with pc prices are a bit crazy, my budget is definitely below 950 euro so I don’t think I can stretch my budget out that far but I do need the pc now so even though the smart move is to save and wait I can’t 😂. Will the games not be able to run smoothly and well on 1080p? If not what would be the problem, will their be low frame rate or will it be more of a stutter issue when I play or ?
Ok, the below is a compromise... I don't know where else to save.

Dropped M.2 storage, so only 1TB HDD. Dropped wifi, only 550W PSU, also without Windows, so you'd need to do a clean Windows and drivers installation, configure everything yourself and buy a Windows licence... It's basically the middle between office and lowest tear of gaming PC which would play 5 years old games at low graphic settings.

With this build you'd need to put a few hundred extra (300-500 Euro) to upgrade it properly, once budget allows. Basically, lowering the price, but you'll need to put toward this build to make it better nearly same or even more as you'll save now. But you're compromising A LOT here. Changing a PSU will be a pain and time consuming. And without changing a PSU to a more powerful, you won't be able to run a new GPU if you'll ever want to upgrade (eg., to run a 1440p monitor or new games which won't work on this build).

It's not just about running games smoothly, it's about part compatibility and overall PC quality. Cutting edges and corners isn't the wisest decision buying a PC as it's limiting performance, lifetime and future upgrades path.

Couldn't you get a temporary summer job to get some extra money?

Thanks again for the feedback, the pc I want to purchase now is more just a temporary build, I will build one now for mid tier gaming and In about 2 years configure a better more upgradable overall pc. For now all I need is a pc that will have a good overall performance as a pc, and then also be able to smoothly run my two games, I don’t care about an upgrade path for this system as this is just a temporary build to get me through the next two years for gaming. Would you feel the build I have put together will be good enough to do that? Or am I just wasting my time and money? All I am looking for it to do is run those two games smoothly for two years until I make a bigger purchase pc. I won’t really be using it for any thing else

My work needs are minimal for the pc, not any thing that I think would majorly affect the performance of the pc.
No, but it might be worthwhile considering just getting a small laptop for the work side of things for a few hundred quid and then using the rest on a console (when you can finally get one)

Also (assuming you are not self employed), your employer should supply you the equipment :D

This is pretty much what I’d recommend. If you plan to get a better system down the line, I don’t see why you don’t just get the prep for that system now, although it seems like you don’t currently have the budget for that. For your uses and budget, an inexpensive laptop and console would be a great route to go. That would cover you for your work uses and as much as they’re difficult to get, by joining stock informer groups on discord and signing up for alerts it’s definitely possible to get consoles. It’s also worth pointing out, especially now, Consoles represent fantastic value for money. To get a vaguely similar gaming experience to a new gen console, I’d reckon you’d need to spend about €2000+ on a PC.

Then, in a few years when you’re ready for this system, the market will have hopefully settled and you’ll be able to get much more for your money (and we’d be happy to help you again!)
