"a media driver your computer needs is missing" when installing windows

Hi everyone,

I recently had to change my C drive due to it having some issues. I installed my new one and went to install windows 10 onto it. I created the usb bootable drive. When I booted the laptop. When I was going through the process a message popped up saying "A media driver your computer needs is missing". I have attempted all the USB ports on the laptop and even tried a different USB stick and had no luck. I attempted searching for the driver and placing the files onto another USB in hope of installing the driver needed but every driver I have tried from Intels website has not worked. Any help would really be appreciated as I need my laptop for work and university. Below are my specs if they help. Thanks again for any help!

can you copy and paste the full specs from the order page?

What make and model is the new drive?

When did this message pop up? At what point in the installation?

The new drive was an exact replica as the one I replaced. (1TB PCS PCIe M.2 SSD (2000 MB/R, 1100 MB/W)

It happens when I press "Install now" on the windows setup window right after selecting the language, time and keyboard layout. It says setup is starting and then the message pops up.

So the very first part of a windows install asks you which driver to install it to, is it showing the drive correctly?

And are you using the latest windows installer direct from Microsoft or one you’ve had from before?

Unfortunately, unlike my previous experiences of installing windows it doesn't take me to the drive select option, instead it takes me to a completely different screen. It asks me to browse and select the "device driver".

It was a new media creation tool I downloaded last night.

Yes, so it’s requiring a raid driver to be able to read the ssd

You just need to point it to the Intel IRST driver, should be available in your account

You need to remove your windows key btw before someone steals it

It’s right there in the middle
I just downloaded the 05_IRST_W10.zip, unzipped it and put it on another USB. I booted the laptop up again and pointed it to that folder and it says "No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, then click OK." I have tried pointing it to the PreOS folder with PEIM, RaidDriver_EFI_PV and RaidDriver_Legacy_PV and still got the no device drivers found. I then went to the Installer folder and selected the Optane and RST folders and still got the same message. Really sorry if I am missing something really simple I've been at this since 6am this morning lol

I just pointed it to the F6 folder and found an Intel(R) 400 series chipset family SATA AHCI controller. I clicked it and selected next and got a message saying "No new devices drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, then click OK"

You’re painting it to the specific .inf file? If it’s a packaged driver ie an exe or msi you’d have to extract it so you have the actual driver file.

I followed the process and got the option to install Intel(R) 400 series chipset family SATA AHCI controller, however, when I install it a pop up comes up saying "No new devices drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, then click OK."

Possible that version is too far out of date, try the latest

I am working on the assumption that you’ve verified the drive is seen in the BIOS?
Yeah the drive itself (the m.2) is visible in BIOS I just can't get the windows 10 creation tool to install windows onto the machine. I have contacted PC specialists to see if they can help I am completely lost at this point lol

to be honest, I would not mess around and just install windows 11 anyway. Windows 10 is in it's end days, and 11 is far better.
