Good morning all, I'm currently in the process of sourcing a gaming PC. However, i made the mistake previously of choosing the components myself and it ended up being "ok" and i got 4 years out of it, but now it's time to go for something much better as i move away from console gaming.

I'm now looking to spend about £3,000 in total.

Just wanted to check with people who actally know what they are talking about if this spec will do what i want, which high end gaming.

Appreciate any advice.

Hi all

I know next to nothing about PC specs, but I'm making the switch over to PC gaming after a lifetime on consoles.

I'm looking to spend around £3,000, little wiggle room if needed.

I want to it ro be able to run high spec games. But since I couldnt configure one myself I've chosen something from the pre built range.

Will this cover what I'm after?

Appreciate any feedback.

You can do waaaay better than this.

Let's start with the monitor. For this kind of build you can do way better than that OK-but-not-amazing display. How about this one: the MSI MAG 341CQP. It's a QD-OLED display, ultrawide, 175Hz, HDR, £750.

Then a build like this would be ideal:

Case
FRACTAL NORTH TG GAMING CASE (BLACK)
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Eight Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.0GHz/104MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5) The best gaming CPU

Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6000MHz (2 x 16GB) Faster RAM
Graphics Card

16GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 Ti SUPER - HDMI, DP, LHR A £200 upgrade to the 4080 Super would be ideal, but would exceed your budget

Appreciate the feedback, I could make that £200 upgrade if it really makes that much of a difference?
It's something like a 20% performance increase, for a 7% increase in the total price of the system. I think that's worth it, myself.

Better with the H100i in to maximise the potential of the 7800X3D, if that's what you meant to select. If you're opting for the 7700 then the AK620 is plenty.

Well, that's not the monitor I'd recommend. Sadly you've missed the good price on the one I recommended above. There is the Philips Evnia 34M2C8600 at around £760, though I have no idea how good a Philips gaming monitor is going to be. I think you have significantly increased the price with those additions (monitor, monitor mount, keyboard, expensive warranty), while actually degrading the overall experience. If you need those things, sure, but I don't think that's better value for money, personally.

I just looked at the price of a monitor mount elsewhere and was shocked it was 3 x the price. I've removed that, the warrenty i think i do need. It's a big outlay and £135 isn't much in the grand scheme.

In regards to the monitor, yeah £750+ is a lot. Didn't realise the one you recommended was on offer for a limited time. How much less would one around £400-500 be?

No point spending out on a decent system, and then going half cocked on the monitor, it's like fitting the tyres from a Fiat 500 on a Ferrari, it will work but you won't get the true experience of the Ferrari
