What is your budget, is it purely for gaming?

What monitor are you pairing the system with and what are your gaming preferences?

Hello! Yes just for gaming, budget is around ÂŁ1700.

I haven't decided on a monitor yet - but want to go for 1440p at 144hz I think.

Thanks for that, that's a big saving! I'm seeing a lot of recommendations for AMD at the moment. I don't know much about them, would the Ryzen 5 3600 6 Core compare to the i7-9700K 8 Core?

Also the looks like the hardrive I had - 512GB Intel® H10 NVMe SSD + 32GB Intel® Optane™ (up to 2300MB/sR | 1300MB/sW) can't be selected here, is that because it's intel? Is the Optane not worth it, as the read/write speeds are slower anyway?

For gaming at 1440p there will be no difference. The 3600 is perfectly suited for gaming and most home user tasks. You won't use 8 cores gaming anyway so doesn't make any odds. Going forward you can pop in any next gen AMD chip to that motherboard so the upgrade potential is far higher than the Intel, which is DOA.

The drive you selected is for Intel. They aren't recommended though, a complete play on technology IMO. FAR slower than the Evo as well. There are even faster drives available to you thanks to the PCIe 4.0. If you wanted to spend a little more on the primary drive, and allow for more games etc, the 1TB Firecuda would be highly recommended.

If you really want to spend the budget then there are changes that can be made to build a stronger system, it won't make any odds to your gaming uses though so thought it best to just save the dough for the next round of upgrades :)

It's a fair shout the Firecuda is as good as it gets.

If you feel you could spend a little more having a 500GB Evo and a 1TB Firecuda secondary would be absolute heaven. The 500 for the OS, programs, general use and maybe a game or 2.... the 1TB for the main game catalogue so that when you wipe the primary, you don't need to re-install anything.

It's what I do with every system I have, but it's obviously personal preference and cash :)
