Beyond a Joke, I am not happy.

This is ridiculous.

This might be a bit long, be warned.

Basically, i ordered my optimus on the 17th of September. Before the October shipping date was posted on the site.

So going by the forums i had assumed i would be getting the older version of audio software with the old model, and so was said accordingly by the online help, who i must add was no problem at all, he was just doing his job, its the company i am not happy with.

but after an hour on the online help i have been assured my order was placed after the October shipping date was posted. Which is absolute rubbish, if that was the case, i wouldn't have bothered ordering at that point.

So basically i have been called a liar, and informed the stock isn't due in for over a week, so it looks like i have to wait another 2 weeks for my order by the time its built and what not.

To be basically called a liar by the pcspecialist team, and not even be apologetic for a mistake on your part, is downright disgraceful and a very bad representation of your company.

This is not on, and i am on the verge of taking this to trading standards. Not once has your team admitted fault and said sorry. I just get told my order was placed after the notice and that i will have to wait.

Absolute disgrace to be treated like this.

that may well have been, but thats not a fault of mine.

but not even thinking of that, do you not think it would have been good practice to tell me this in an email? Just to make sure the customer knows what's going on, and so there is no confusion?

Rather than them sending me and email telling me the laptop will be in building by 7/8 working days...

Sorry to hear about the problems you've experienced bud... I think that the email you got regarding build times is almost a 'generic standard email' and if its the one I'm thinking of it just mentions typical build times.

Only thing I could think of as to explain the disparity between the date you ordered and the date PCS are saying you ordered is maybe the processing time? Before you went into pre-production? Sometimes this can take a wee while and this may have delayed the start of your build somewhat.

Still, I hope you get your new laptop soon!

We are very sorry for the delay with your order. Our 15.6" and 17.3" Optimus IV models have been very popular and our stock sold out very quickly, meaning that there has been an increased lead time on some orders whilst waiting for our new stock to arrive. As soon as stock sold through we put the notice on the website but it is possible that some orders may have been placed around the time this notice was being added.

We would like to apologise if you were not aware of the increased lead time. Looking at your order however, you are currently on your 9th working day and our current lead times are 9 - 11 working days. For your order, 11 working days will be next Tuesday. If you are happy to consider upgrading to a 17.3" Optimus IV (no extra charge to you) - this stock will be in to us by next Wednesday and therefore your order will only miss the average lead time by 1-2 days max, as we will assemble it for your at our earliest priority once stock lands. Would you like to upgrade?

Thanks for clearing that up, if that was done on live chat it would saved a lot of a hassle!

Actually, that would be great, thanks ever so much! I appreciate it, maybe the customer service isnt as bad as my first impression led me to believe.

You think that is bad?

I ordered mine on the 12th. The October shipping problem came on the 17-18th. As soon as it was there, I went to live chat to ask them what the problem was and if it affected me.

They told me that there was a chassis shortage but my order would not be affected as I ordered a while ago and they still had stock left.

I double checked this on the 25th of sept and was told: “There are no issues with stock on your order and i can see it has been printed for production. It should be entering building in the next couple of days and as soon as it does we will send you an email to keep you in the loop.”

Today I was told that infact there was a problem and I will not be receiving it until next week. But, don’t worry, I will also be getting “earliest priority”.

While shortages occur, that is not my concern. In fact even though there are people on this forum who ordered the same chassis a week after me and have their product already does not anger me too much. But I checked and rechecked, was reassured numerous times, just to be told to stick it.

I have had delays on my original Vortex III build but all credit to PCS they kept me updated so i was never in any doubt as to when to expect my unit, it also meant i could upgrade to the extreme so in all the delay was beneficial to me, note they also offered me compensation for the delay which is commendable and i see they've done right by you, enjoy your new 17.3" machine :)

Seems a common thing at this moment of time!

But yeh, im pleased with how i was dealt with on the forum, and i am just really hoping they keep to what they say.

Not good! As i just said though, we can only hope that they stick to what they have told us and that we enjoy the laptops when they arrive! im guessing if we do, we shall soon be forgetting about our troubles!

Yep! Order processed on the 5th September, on 17th pre-production day right now (Vortex III, 680m). E-mailed a few days back and was told it'd be built next week once they had some chassis' in though, so not too bad. Would be nice to have it sooner seeing as it's not exactly a cheap product, but genuine stock shortages can't really be helped, I suppose! I've got games all ready to play, too :p

Tho I have only Just placed an order It does worry me that there is nowhere that I could see where stocks are limited or in short supply when making my choice of build. I like that it checks that my build is compatible but would also be cool if it says that said build was also in stock, at least then i know its just a matter of payment and being placed in a build queue. Fingers crossed dare I say !!!! tho thats a sad thought when dishing out over 2.7k on a laptop .. hahahahaha

I cant find it in the forums but I think this was suggested before and has been rejected by PCS, I think it was too difficult to implement due to how they order stock etc. I'll edit this post if I find the thread.

I seem to remember something like this as well.

I think it was something about the fact that whatever stock they have in at the moment you order will not be the stock that gets used for your PC, because by the time a PC gets built is about 2-3 weeks after it is ordered and stock is replenished numerous times in that ammount of time.
