hi guys ive just brought a new gaming desktop made by pc specialist via ebuyer, i was playing the battlefield 4 beta and the system re-booted itself into the bios stating that its rebooted because of a power supply problem with anti surge protection?. im just wondering what my coarse of action should be now? should i panic that my new pc is going to die on me? was i straining the pc too much?

I know that the asus-surge protection is causing a few people problems - I can't remember what the resolution was though at the mo.

Also the PC was sold as over clocked to 4.2 and I've since found its not been
Remember that the clock speed will only rise above stock speed when required, so whilst idle or doing stuff that doesn't require much CPU power it will not look like its overclocked.

Quite a few people are having the same issue with the asus anti surge protection.
As you're also having problems with overclock settings, best give PCS a call.
Edit: what Rakk said.

Its just done it again when playing splinter cell. So have there been lots of problems with anti surge with other systems?

Yes,quite a few posts on here about it and reported all over the Net.
Apparently the advice is to switch it off in bios settings.

Yes, its a known problem with the asus mobos, just go into your BIOS and disable ASP and see if it cures the problem, many people have, and its cured it.
