Build Feedback

I'd imagine the idea behind @Steveyg 's choices being the smaller faster 500GB Intel drive would be a drive for Windows and applications then the larger slower (but still pretty quick) 1TB PCS drive being for basically everything else (games, file storage etc). Neither of them are Gen 4, although that's not necessarily an issue, Gen 3 NVME's are still lightning quick compared to a HDD or even SATA SSD.
Yeah this is the thought process, I didn't go to Gen4 due to budget constraints

The CoolerMaster Hyper 212 is back in stock mate so I would go with that over the Liquid Lite 120. It'll do the same job but it would look a lot better. Not a big fan of 120mm radiators but that was the only decent aftermarket option at the time of the suggestions

Also the savings on the cooler will let you upgrade to the 850W RMx for greater over head, a quieter PSU and it'll help the build run cooler for an extra fiver

I was writing a comment about the cooler when the green bar popped up! Thoroughly agree with this.

@Gorillo you should also make sure that you have the appropriate controllers for your fans. You'll need a PWM controller to power all the fans, and an RGB hub to control all the lighting. You will probably get an RGB controller with your fans; you probably won't get a PWM controller. At this point, I'd personally be considering getting the 5000X with its included fans and controllers (the 4000X's fans aren't amazing), because it will probably work out cheaper.

Seems to me you set a budget of £1,500 and risk going well over it. I'd really consider buying your own RAM. PCS is charging you around £200 but there are some fairly decent discounts, £110-£135, available from third parties for 32gb sets. That money can bring you back towards budget or pay for a 5000X case / upgrade a PCIe3 SDD to PCIe4 etc.

Thanks all for the advice. I contacted them about the 4000X case and they said it should be back in stock within the next few weeks. Should I hold out for this or go with the 5000x, is there any benefit of a larger case? I would guess airflow is improved?

In terms of the RAM, I have found the same Corsair RGB kit for £150 on Amazon, which would save £50. Do you have any better alternatives? I would still like these to be RGB.

Cheers all

The 4000X is not the best, because the fans aren't great. They're DC fans (Corsair's "AirGuide") which are relatively noisy. If you go for the 5000X, you get PWM fans, which are much better. The airflow is very similar between the two cases. The main difference (apart from the fans) is that the size allows for slightly more compatibility for parts (some AIOs and RAM modules are incompatible in the 4000-series) and I believe the build quality is slightly higher. I'd personally go for the 5000X, unless you have space concerns.

If you want RGB (why?), I'm seeing 2x16Gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200Mhz at £135 and 3600Mhz at £137. Non RGB is as low as £110 and runs just as fast.

It's just for the aesthetic really, and I don't mind spending an extra £20 to get RGB.

Thanks for the advice, is it worth an extra £60 for the 5000X to get slightly less noisy fans?

I think the difference is more like £35? Honestly, at that price I'd say "yes", but I'm a bit of a silence nut...
