Hi all, I haven't been into gaming since about 2016/17 so I am quite out of the loop, SteveyG recommended this setup I have just changed the GPU.

What is everyones thoughts?

Much appreciated in advance.

Mainly be used for FPS gaming.

Budget is around 2.5 - 2.7k.

I am planning on getting a 27inch 240hz 0.5 ms response time/Full HD 1920 x 1080p - Will be upgraded in the future. (Budget for monitor £300)

I want something I won't have to upgrade anytime soon!
If you think anything is over kill or something should be swapped for something else please let me know as my budget is 2.7k but i will happily drop the price if can lol.
Also would you have the 24GB ASUS TUF GAMING RADEON™ RX 7900 XTX OC - HDMI, DP - DX® 12 as below or the 24GB AMD RADEON RX 7900 XTX hdmi, dp - dx 12?

With regards to the monitor. Have you considered 1440p as the resolution? It seems that you're after the top end in the GPU department and it looks like the budget supports it. It would be a real shame to limit the output to 1080p.

There are some very unique use cases where the top 1% of gamers in the world look to compete and need to wring out every single bit of performance from a setup, and thus use 1080p. If you're not a professional gamer then I doubt you would get any benefit over 144hz (don't fall for the sales hype).

A 1440p 144hz (or if you wanted to cover the bases 240hz) would be a far better gaming experience, with a much better FOV in the FPS games, than 1080p.

Hi Scott, Thanks so much for the reply!

I would definitely consider a 1440p 144hz, The current monitor as above, I am being gifted for free so just couldn't turn down, But I will upgrade in the future 100%, Any recommendations in terms of monitors? I do like the curved style & my max size would probably be 27inch. I have also saw this monitor:

My max budget is 2.7k for the PC i'm just worrying if I am going overboard or does everything look good to you? Anything you would swap out or recommend? Im looking for something that would be good for quite a few years and won't need any upgrades any time soon, However I am 100% completely open to any and all suggestions.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

For the monitor I would spend a little more and get IPS. The below is an excellent monitor. I know it's bigger than you were mentioning but the UWQHD will blow your socks off if it'll fit your desk. There's no height difference, just more width.

Some savings below. Pointless getting the OC model. The GPU is a beast. Note the included link at the bottom, this is what allows us (and you) to go in and view the quote and suggest changes. This is what's requested when you're posting up specs :)

Hi Scott, Thanks again for the reply.

That's my fault I did remove the link as I thought that would alter my one, Apologies!

Thanks very much for altering that, Is that just the case and GPU that has been altered? Noted on the OC model and yeah that makes sense! Would you recommend adding any additional fans for that case as it is a lot bigger than the Lian Li one.

Thanks for including that monitor! I do not think it would fit on my desk unfortunately.. I work from home so my desk is shared with my work equipment, Are there any 27" you would recommend? That one looks amazing though!, I will have to do some research into monitors and IPS? Not heard of that before.. Everything has changed so much back in 2017 in my friend group.. it was all about 240hz/ms response time and i7 so a lot has changed for me.

again thank you for taking the time to reply and alter the build!

*Edit, Wow the monitor is amazing (Just watched some reviews) so I will actually consider it tbh.. But if you do know of any 27inch that would also be great!

That monitor is amazing, I'll try and post an up to date photo of mine later, the trick is to use an arm or desk mount rather than the default stand

That would be great thanks Martin, I always wonder with larger monitors does it feel more sluggish or sometimes it feels like you have to much to look at in your opinion? I have only ever gamed on 23-27inch monitors previously.

I changed the cooler and removed the additional paste also (Not required with decent coolers as it already comes pre-applied).

The OC isn't worth it in this case, you're paying for a brand and label rather than performance.

I wouldn't add any additional fans personally. PCS typically make sure there's an exhaust fan added so with the 3 front fans and 3 exhaust fans from the AIO, you're easily covered.

One thing I didn't do that I would consider, is RGB RAM. It'll go nicely with the aesthetic of the interior. I typically add it automatically with this case layout but I forgot it.

I would definitely consider the monitor. It'll function just fine with your work setup as well :)

Thanks Scott really appreciate your replies!

So I just need to swap the 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6000MHz (2 x 16GB) for the 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 5200MHZ (2 X 16GB)?

You've been a great help!

Sorry lol I was being blind and couldn't even see that, Thank you!

Would you say much difference between the 20GB AMD RADEON™ RX 7900 XT - HDMI, DP - DX® 12 & 24GB AMD RADEON™ RX 7900 XTX - HDMI, DP - DX® 12?

Thanks Scott!

More frames for more cash. With 1440p I think it's wasted personally, you're more looking at Super UWQHD or 4k high refresh to make use of such a GPU.

If it was my money I would save it for an upgrade down the line. You'll get far more bang for your buck by getting the next generation at the same tier than you do just now for the tier above (if that makes sense).

Always match the GPU to the monitor. The games will update, which is why you will update the GPU to keep up. Overshooting the GPU tends to just waste cash.

We love you Ukraine
I would just add, with most monitors these days, get a decent desk mount rather than using the stand, that way you free up the whole desk. Monitor arms aren't expensive, just be sure it can take the weight of the monitor you're mounting and fits the VESA mount size the monitor supports (80 x 80, 100 x 100, or 200 x 200 normally)

Here you go, the top monitor is the Samsung G5 (27") in my signature, with the gigabyte on the bottom
