i created a usb too boot off using this method, followed it all the way through apart from deleting the partitions! cortana talked me through some of the way, then it was all prompting and self explanatory from there...

i was sent a download link by Andrew Kearny from PC specialist via email, i clicked the link again to reinstall the control/game centre and it comes up link expired...

When were you sent through that link?

You would need to delete all existing partitions when doing a clean install.

You need to delete all partitions off the primary OS drive, if you have secondary drives installed, obviously don't touch them.

But yes, you'd need to delete all partitions and install to the left over spece.

Do you not have the app in your PCS downloads section?

Are you still in touch with her? All she has to do is transfer the warranty.

how long to warranties last ? i think this machine is about 18months old, would it still be in warranty?
Depends what warranty you ordered as to what's covered, but standard warranty covers 1 month shipping, 1 year parts and 3 years labour.

If been having this exact problem on my Recoil IV. I got it in today and it has Gaming Center but for some reason when you put the laptop in sleep mode or close the lid the keyboard backlights won't turn back on but the little RGB strip does. Uninstalling the drivers fixes it but I'm not sure how good it's performance will be without the tool because it's what controls the fan and things like that. I don't know if the button to swap to different modes even does anything without the software. I wouldn't think of it as a immediate deal breaker but I use the back lighting a lot but I'm pretty disappointed because of this problem, not something I expected with a expensive laptop like the recoil. I hope that maybe there is a solution here or that they push a driver update to fix it.

my friend is the IT technician at a large collage and she came over and looked at the laptop
and spotted drivers on the machine with the 1968 date, yes 1968! she said it was a windows update that has gone out and caused problem's all over her collage.. she says we now need the drivers
for the keyboard and if possible, a whole bundle of drivers to update this machine manually...

we have done a totally fresh install of windows 10 and it has not fixed the problem!

here is an article on the windows fault with the 1968 drivers...

They’re not actually drivers from 1968, intel drivers didn’t even exist then, they’ve just been incorrectly signed, but they’re optional updates anyway so shouldn’t apply unless you manually select them for install.

Indeed I don't think those would be causing those problems even if they were installed to begin with

I would contact PCS, there must be an update for gaming center either available or they’ll need to liaise with the manufacturer to get one rolled out.

Yeah that will be the first thing I'll do in the morning but I have 1 question. Do you think it would be smarter to call the UK number or the one where I live (Netherlands). Just so we can get to the solution faster of course.

They're extremely busy at the moment, I would try the UK number, remember that you need the dialling code and then drop the 1st 0, so it would be 0044 333 011 7000

If you have any difficulties getting through, it may be worth trying the web chat which is on this page at the very bottom right in the footer (only on desktop browsers, won't work on mobile or tablet):

yes i was aware it was a dating error! somehow they were on my laptop! i didnt add them myself so somehow they got onboard! maybe it was driver booster, but even then you have to select the updates you want so im not sure how they got onboard! anyways ive done the clean install of windows 10, still no keyboard or back lights...ill also be calling PCS tomorrow..

But does it work with Command center uninstalled and the keyboard lighting turned on in the BIOS?

no, right now i have no command center, not able to type using the keyboard and no backlighting! when i go into the BIOS it shows the options you get from the command center, rainbow, wave etc but thats it... i select one, save it , restart and still no go..

Well I called with PCS yesterday and they told me they have had people with similar issues last week and that it's related to the BIOS so they would send me a way to update / reset my BIOS and that should fix it according to them

that makes some sense to me, since the bios on mine doesnt seem to be controlling the keyboard or lighting at all...keep us posted!
