Coolit Eco II A.L.C Advanced & Titan Fenrir

Can anyone explain the pro's and con's between the two coolers in the subject. I am looking into buying a new PC very shortly and at some point in the future I may consider overclocking it.

To me the Coolit sounds like the better component, but has anyone had first hand experience with either item and what did they think?

I'm looking at a 2600k/2700k up to around 4.4 when the processor starts to struggle. This would be primarily for gaming. Is there any reason at all to overclock or is it a wasted practise when it comes to gaming?

Thanks,
A5ko

when it comes to gaming, overclocking is pretty pointless unless you have an old dual core thats struggling

the i7 will last you years because by the time you need more than 4 cores, hyperthreading will be fully enabled for your CPU meaning it can sort of have 8 cores

there are mixed opinions about watercooling and the titan, i personally prefer air cooling (as there is less chance of something leaking) but water cooling will cool better and will also be quieter

there are some quality air coolers about, its a shame PCS dont stock them, perhaps have a look at some (cough, venom voodoo in my review) haha

Thanks for your reply.

I am considering the Titan Fenrir as I am a bit apprehensive about the whole water inside my pc thing. I did hear someone suggest water cooling based on the reason that the Titan can become dislodged slightly in transit, but I think that may not be something to be massively concerned over. I've not upgraded for around 4-5 years, still rocking a E6700 in my Alienware, so I don't really have any idea how these new top processors are running.

yes the i7 is way above any game i know of

and if you want the titan go for it, if you are not overclocking, which you dont need to, you can get the standard 2600 CPU and the triple copper cooler

I suspect in the future I may overclock, plus I like to be covered in the cooling part of the OC setup. I learnt the hard way with my Alienware (both my 7800 gtx's popping within a week of each other, albeit 2-3 years after getting the PC), I really don't want to cut corners with cooling which is why I am considering a CPU cooler and the HAF X case.

Thanks for your replies though.

its a hard choice then, the triple copper will be fine but not for overclocking, tbh, your graphics card will be well outdated before your CPU struggles so there will never be a need for overclocking it

I would get the Titan fenrir if I was you, I have the older version of the fenrir and it does a good job is reasonably quiet and cools my cpu well. Overlocking does provide some performance boost, for now you don't need it but it might be useful in 2 or 3 years so getting a spec which can be overclocked is a good idea. Maybe you could send a differenct cpu air cooler to pcspecialist and ask them to fit for you. If you want the best it would be either thermalright silver arrow or noctua nh-d14, but these cpu coolers are even bigger than the titan.

Just to say pcs did say in another thread there has not been a single case of leaking with the new eco II's! they offer great cooling and are alot smaller than air coolers.

edit - clicky
To clarify - Coolit do NOT own Corsair, and Corsair do NOT own CoolIT.

CoolIT however are the manufacturers of all Corsair coolers. So if you buy a CoolIT product from us, it will be very similar to the Corsair model, but cheaper. :)

About leaks - earlier CoolIT products did have some occasional issues with leaking. However, we have not had any reports of ECO II products leaking and we have sold 1,000's.

I am curious what is the difference in terms of performance between the Titan and Coolit ECO II, I did read reviews of possible leakages but only for the previous version.

The liquid coolers are very very good, ya can improve it more by getting two high good fans on there in a push pull config, they allow great airflow through cases as they are alot smaller. For one of these id' look at the cm 690II or above, the t900 and haf 912 plus will fit on, but it may block one of the top fans.

I aint used the titan, so cant really say from experience only that I heard and read its very good. Not the best air cooler, but the best is a noctua d14 and c14 are MASSIVE but amazing. For the titan will may need to look into each case in detail for the max cpu cooler height. Just so ya can check if it will fit nicely. Probably will but research is fun :)

Hey,

Thanks all for the replies.

I've decided I will downgrade the 2700k to the 2600k when I order tomorrow morning and add on the COOLIT ECO II A.L.C ADVANCED LIQUID COOLER.

At some point in the future when I decide to overclock, at least I will have the option and really an overclocked 2600k is not going to be considerably behind a 2700k from what i've seen.

My Titan is awesome, never had a problem with it and would deffinately recommend it. As far as which is better, they both are about equal, or atleast they were when I looked at the benchmarks when I bought mine. Id honestly say go for air cooling, even with no problems having been reported so far its still less of a risk air cooling, I would say if you specifically wanted water cooling then go for a full custom loop and do it properly, otherwise stick to things like the Fenrir or the Notchua.

Anyone one knows what are the T&C when there is a leakage and under PC specialist warranty?

for the most accurate answer give them a call, but pretty sure it would be covered under ya warranty. I wouldn't worry about leakages, as no Eco II models have leaked yet and they have sold thousands

You are correct, this is what I got from Meds:

If the PC is within it's warranty period then all parts are covered should they get damaged. However, after the warranty period expires then it's all done on a case by case basis.

Hello A5ko,
So did you go with the COOLIT ECO II at the end?

Hey,

Yes I went with an overclocked 2600k in the end, so I felt as if the COOLIT ECO II was a perfect choice.

I was also a bit apprehensive with the coolit eco II since I have not found many reviews on the new ones but also decided to go for it. Still waiting for my order, hopefully next week.
