d2x xonar card problems

Hi,
Thought i would ask you guys here first before asking pc specialist.
I get the blue screen of death when i try to load drivers for the d2x
[this was already installed when i got my rig]I get the message
" the internal power for the xonar d2x is not detected. The audio card
may not work" The card is lit up and connections as far as i can see
are correct inside and have all the connections outside fitted but no
sound. If i connect my connections to the onboard card everything works.
Am i right in saying that the onboard card needs turned off first[conflict]
and if so is this easy to do?
Thanks for any info.
ps.I am using Logitecks z960 surround ,sabertooth mobo and gtx 690 gpu

ah, open up the case (when its all turned off)

and check that there is not a internal power cable that requires connecting, It may be a floppy disk connector.

i have a ASUS DX and it requires a power cable. It may have disconnected during transport.

it may do mate, as some power may come from the motherboard. But as the system is telling you that the internal power cable isnt connected, i'd suggest this is the problem.

Look below the ASUS logo, can you see the four little pins? that is for a floppy drive connector. (old school)

It may be awkward to get to mate, so be very very careful.

I suspect that its still connected, but may have become loose. SO It should be either connected slightly, or in and around that area.

it will look like this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Molex-Floppy-Drive-Power-Cable/dp/B001R07FDW

Another matter,do i have to disconnect on board sound card as i do get blue screen when trying
to load drivers for d2x,i read in another forum that 2 cards switched on at the same time can cause conflicts
and if so is it easy to disconnect onbord?

There may be an option to disable onboard sound in bios settings,I just have mine disabled in "Device Manager".
In Device Manager, expand "Sound video and game controllers"/right click on your onboard sound device/disable.

The cable doesn't connect to the mobo, but to the a molex connector from the PSU.

Open the case ( both sides) and check that its not already attached somewhere and just needs plugging in.

But if the cable isn't there, (which means PCS didnt plug it in lol) then have a look in your welcome pack, with all your spare cables. I'm not sure what psu you have, but I got a floppy connector with my PSU cables.

The blue screen may be occuring, because the D2X isnt powered up, so the drivers cant install properly. So i wouldnt change the sound settings until you have the the D2X plugged in.

then install the drivers from the ASUS website, and go from there.

hi tom,
I found the short 4pin floppy powe cable and connected to the female part of the spare molex cable that was bundled.
this makes the cable length about 2 feet. The other end of the cable is different though,a lego, boxy type conector which
has six connectors,3 top,1 connected,3bottom all connected. I opened other side of my haf x and did see other 2 molex type connectors but were both
4 pin female connectors,no way could the lego type connector be attached.
I will just have to revert back to my on board card as i really dont have the know how to sort this out[to be honest this should have been up and running
at quality control at pcspecialist] but its not the most important part of my pc but thanks for your help all the same.

I found the 4pin floppy connection and connected it to a 2ft molex cable that came bundled. The end of the molex cable is a six pin block type connector,3 top ,3 bottom,
only 4 pins are wired.I opened right side of my haf x but could only see two 4 pin connectors[same type the large end of the 4 pin floppy connect only female] that were tied up with the cables that were leading from the hx 1050 psu so
there was no way i could connect to them.I really dont have the know how to fix this problem[pc specialist should have had this connrcted and working at testing, but there you go] so i am going to revert back to my on board sound card,it is quite good just the same, anyhow, thanks for your help

that 6 pin cable, needs to go into your power supply mate, (which i presume is the corsair hx model)

so just plug that into your PSU and boom it should work.
