Delivery time question

Something’s amiss. Wonder if they’ve had some large commercial orders. All speculation of course but it’s a good way to wile away a Friday evening.

I must say this thread has given me some food for thought. I’ve waited so long a few more days (weeks?) isn’t going to make a difference, however I’m definitely an item or two being out of stock away from cancelling until a later date.

It is frustrating, the lack of communication, automated or otherwise, when you have thousands of pounds tied up in a company which doesn't seem to earmark assets for you when they come in stock. I can of course sympathize with working environments making business more difficult, but as an independent businessman I have needed to cut my cloth to fit current capabilities and I expect iso9001 companies to be in a position to do a better job than me!

I’ve just had my PC dispatched this morning after 21 working days, I amended my order on Wednesday when I noticed my case was no longer in stock, I’m not sure if that’s related to me getting a dispatched order sooner than the 25 day estimate that seems to be in place now.

Mine went into testing today after 20 working days. Probably gonna be dispatched on Monday (making it 21 working days). That seems to be the average time for now based on our massive sample size of 2. But I'd honestly expect that to increase to 24-25 days by the end of next week, based on the trend I've been seing from people on the forums.

Please everyone, we know that there are serious issues with PCS's build estimates at the moment.

I do know that PCS are well aware of your frustrations and that your complaints here are not falling on deaf ears. I don't work for PCS though (none of the moderators do) so I have no idea what PCS's plans are nor how they intend to move forward in the current emergency, but we do know that they are aware of the problem.

I recognise that posting your individual build progress (or lack of it) is a way of mutually supporting one another and something of an outlet for your frustrations. As long as these remain friendly, factual and reasonable there is no problem in continuing to post them if you feel you need to.

However, posts that in any way discredit PCS or make wild unsubstantiated claims about how they operate (or how they should operate) will be modified or deleted. I have already deleted unacceptable content from one recent post, some users have received warnings and some banned.

Just wanted to throw an update out on here as I have just received an email update from PCS about my order, and I am guessing that others will start to receive similar emails too.

I have been following these forums for a couple of weeks now since I put my order in on the 1st of June, and I can understand peoples frustrations, but can sympathise with what is currently going on and the pressure the guys at PCS must be under.
My estimated build date as stated in my email is now July the 2nd, which would be 24 working days from order. They do say this is just an estimate which could move and is no guarantee, which is fair enough.
They also say that they will continue to send out updates every 5 days, so they are hearing peoples frustrations and starting to communicate back.

I will attach a screen shot of the email to this post so people can see PCS' response but honestly guys just cut them some slack now, let them get on with their jobs and before you know it you'll all have your PCs :)

Should I be concerned that I’ve not had one of these emails with build time in yet when everyone seemed to get one this morning?

Given other posts on the forum we’re already looking at 10th July for builds then thats another 15 working days from today on top of whatever anyone has waited when the configurator still suggests builds in only 18-20 days. Something just feels off which is heightening everyone’s concerns.

I haven’t heard anything from PCS since a week last Friday - I really don’t want to pester them on the phone unnecessarily but some forward guidance would help with personal planning and I currently have no idea what is believable or not anymore. If its not going to be until mid July then would like to check with them if its one or two parts holding it up or something as could possibly be changed.

I believe the emails are being done manually, so it will take a while to update everyone, so if wait until Tuesday and if you haven’t heard anything then give them a call.

These new emails are essentially replacing the automated build estimates as that system can’t keep up with all the changes so ignore any of the estimates for now except the ones explicitly implied in the notification emails.

I'm in the same boat as you as I haven't received any emails regarding build times. I ordered mine on the 29th - I can only assume not every customer is getting them

As @SpyderTracks says, they're being sent out manually. AFAIK all non-building personnel, including customer service, are working from home so it may take a few days to get round to every customer.

If you've not had an email by early next week give them a call.

Sorry to hear you're having such problems, I actually came here to praise PC Specialist. I ordered a laptop last Sunday and was told 10-12 working days. I then got an email on the Monday about covid19 and delays and feared the worst. However, it completed testing on Friday, and despite initially being told it would arrive Monday, it actually got delivered today, so 5 working days and 6 full days end to end. Very happy with it. Maybe I just got lucky.

Laptops seem to be less affected by the current issues as noted previously which adds more questions than answers.

Laptops are basically barebones systems. They are received mostly assembled with just the storage/RAM configurations to add.

Desktops will always take longer to assemble. There are exceptions of course, the DTR Laptops will require far more configuration than non DTR varients.
