Delivery time question

Quoting 30-35 days may put some customers off so it wouldn't make business sense - there needs to be a happy medium. Yes it may be a little optimistic but from a business point of view you need to balance expectations and reality with selling your product in a competitive market.
As to "read all the comments above" you mention, these are minuscule compared to the customers who don't complain.
I disagrree, sorry!
Tell the customers the truth and they stay customers if you continue to provide the products and service quality they expect.
Certainly don't mislead them.
I am a director of a customer focused business, that is the right approach in our business.

There is no truth though, you can't know how long a build is going to take, it's just not possible, it depends how many orders come in, depends on staff availability.

You're assuming these are hard numbers and they're not, they're just estimates.

You're misunderstanding how a custom business works.

It's not possible to give an accurate prediction. None of us can tell the future.

I spoke to someone in customer services today, who apologies profusely, and agreed that the website timescales may need reviewing. He also advised that today they are working on orders placed on 24th May. So my order on 26th May will hopefully be worked on from Tuesday/Wednesday, so still another week or so to wait.

I would agree with you, but my issue is that they havent even started the build yet!

Yes, it's in a queue and it hasn't been gotten to yet, sorry, that doesn't make any sense. Why would it have started building yet when it hasn't got to the building phase?

I never said it had started the build. That is our problem!
We ordered on a estimated leadtime.
We are well past that estimated leadtime, and they still havent even started the build.
So i have no idea what the timescales could be, as you rightly said previously that the build can take any amount of time.

But that’s my point, why do you assume that an estimation should lead to a concrete delivery date when all the advice from people on this forum, from the emails sent from PCS, from the notice put up on the home page, they all clearly state that there are delays.

Your expectations during a worldwide pandemic are unrealistic to be frank.

Everyone is in the same boat.

Claiming that they’re “misleading people” is just not fair. Saying something like “the estimates are a bit off” would be rational.

I phoned also they said they will start build on the 26th with completion by the 3/7. I'm hoping completion means delivery by 3/7
Still confused why customer supports is still saying 14-16 in messages 😂
Surely if thy can quote the exact date of build they know the estimates are well off

I'm guessing everyone is in the same boat with lead times getting longer by the day? Although I was paying less attention prior to ordering, it seems things were almost on schedule in May and have recently snowballed?

I placed my order on the 25th May and am currently on working day 19. When I placed my order 64% of orders were being dispatched within 14 (I'm assuming working) days according to the order page. As an aside, It's somewhat confusing to calculate dispatch percentages in increments of 7, 14, 21, 28 days if these are actually working days (5 day weeks)! The average is now 25 working days for desktops and there are no stats for 35 days.

Scan are currently quoting only a 4 day lead time on a similarly specced system.

Does anyone have any further insight into the problems? The stats started to climb at the beginning of the week, but have slumped again? Hopefully things will move more quickly soon?

Yeah I think everyone is in the same boat. I placed my order on the 29th and have been told various build dates of the 16th,22nd and now the 29th so I am just going with July for delivery.

Understandable with COVID going on, I just wish the dates were clearer as it seems like a never-ending wait.

I'm very similar to you, i ordered on the 28th of May and ive been told different days by multiple people on the live chat. At the moment im more frustrated and hoping than anything. at the moment im aiming for July for delivery which is a bit of a disappointment

Disclaimer: I am aware of COVID-19 PSU, MOBO and other general shortages. None of my parts were out of stock on day of purchase. My complaint is that on the day of purchase PC SPecialist would've known they had 20+ Days of PC's ahead of me, and should've told me that, not lie to me about average build times which were weeks old.

Hello all,

Just a quick warning to not believe or go by any estimates build times on the website.

I ordered my PC on 24th May with a 12-14 Day dispatch estimate.
I am now on Working Day 20- Still in Pre-Production.
I have watched every day the Average Day to Dispatch time increase from 14 Days to now 25 Days and it rises every day.

Unfortunately, with finance agreements you only have 14 days to cancel, so by the time I was past the Average dates I was well past my ability to refund.

I have contacted support last week and was told my build was planned to be built on Wednesday just past, it's now Friday and not build so I won't likely be recieving my PC at the end of the next week or later, over 1 Calender Month after purchase.

COVID Aside, PCSpecialist would've been aware they had an uptick of orders and could've clearly advertised much more realistic build times in stead of using out of date information aggregated weeks prior to my order.

Browsing the forums I feel bad for anyone who ordered after me.

Baring in mind I have 12 Months to pay off the remaining balance to prevent interest, I am now making monthly payments on something I do not even have!

I haven't had any contact from PCSpecialist despite emailing me on Day 1 of Pre-Production saying my PC was on track to be dispatched within 12-14 Days.

I heavily suggest not ordering any PC's from probably anywhere right now.

I am fairly certain you can still cancel as the 14 day right to cancel should be from the date of dispatch. I would call PCS up if you wish to cancel, you have every right to.

Thanks for your reply Scott, i'll be honest, I wouldn't have minded waiting the time i've waited if I had the information available to make that decision at the time. An estimate is an estimate, but 12-14 Dispatch time and 20 WD's and not even built yet is a HUGE underestimate.
My concern is if I am waiting 20+ days NOW, imagine how long someone may be waiting who ordered today? And that the average estimate has not taken that in to account.

Thanks for the update, I think I will call and cancel.. I've lost excitement for the build and newer parts are already on the way. Ah well.

Yes it's 14 days from receiving goods, I am actually thinking of cancelling now to and waiting for newer parts or most Likely get the same pc £200 cheaper in 2 months time.

It's a lot of money to spend on a pc with new products arriving soon. I ordered mine , went over budget because I was hyped up getting a really good build but like reading that You ordered on the 24th (11days before me) and yours still in pre production is like a major disappointment lol

If I had known it would take upwards of a month I would never have ordered. I just rang and was told not to expect delivery before Wednesday (even though I was advised over the phone to expect it this week). I feel I'm too far in now though, so I might as well wait!
