I would ensure you have updated your drivers / everything is installed correctly first.
Then get some kind of antivirus+antispyware etc. (free or otherwise, its your choice)
Then get gaming
Steam/Origin/uPlay/etc.
I got 3d mark 11 when my rig first arrived to benchmark it "as new" was pretty cool

Install antivirus program as mentioned then run windows update.
I can recommend microsoft security essentials which is free.

Microsoft security essentials is free,no trial involved.
MSE is free whether you use it for one day or however long you want it for, it's what I've been using for the last year and a half and I've never paid a penny for it
The link doesn't say trial, it has 'tial' in it which is the second half of the word 'essential'
