That kind of dust build up usually only happens if you leave the side panel off. Dust filters are a great help too :)

Presume a PC has gotten dusty, what is the "technique" used to clear the dust? Vacuum Cleaner? Feather Brush? Blowing? .? .? .?

Never use a vacuum cleaner unless its a specialist anti-static one, best removing the components and using a new paint brush out doors.

Best thing you can use is one of these, long, soft brush, gets right into those crevices and gets the dust out, you can be rough without the risk of damaging components (to an extent), one of these with a can of compressed air works wonders.

It's called a 'blusher brush' according to the girls.

If you can nick one from the missus without getting a slap, or buy one whilst hiding your shame, you should be fine.

and remember kids, if you SMOKE in the same room as your PC, check it more regularly, as dust buildups will gather tar, the tar will melt and drip on your graphics card/other components and then fry them, it's happened before and will happen again on doubt.

so assuming you live in a moderately dusty environment, how frequently should you be cleaning the inside of your pc?

also, does it not void your warranty or anything if you remove components to clean them? I'm sure I read somewhere on PCS that there were supposedly a whole batch of tests that you guys could do that could detect if a component was removed or not.

ps.

I have been a bit concerned about the dust aspect myself, and am looking at having a HAF 932 case, which doesn't come with filters. are there any filters for this case available post-sale?

i live in a old dusty house so i no longer keep my pc on the carpet and its high up, ive not had to clean it in over a year but when i use to keep them on the carpet it was once every 2 months, so i would pop the side off and take a look and check back regular ;)

This is here:

http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/terms/

7.14. Will I void my warranty if I open the case and install my own components?

Unlike with most computer manufacturers, we allow you to open your case and install your own components without voiding your warranty providing that:

* You understand that if the actions of the person installing the components cause damage to the computer, your warranty will be void.
* You understand that if the components you install cause problems with your computer, your warranty will be void.
* You understand that we will in no way support you installing your own components or with any problems you have relating to the components you have installed.
* You understand that we have over 30 different measures in place to detect if a component has been moved/removed and if you have moved/removed a component, your warranty will be void. You are only entitled to add extra components to your computer.

Basically, if you add a component to your computer and all goes well, you will still have a warranty. In any other circumstance, your warranty will be void.

If you are unclear about anything, or wish to discuss any possible loop-holes, you understand and accept that you must email us and have written confirmation from us before you make any changes to your computer configuration. Otherwise you are welcome to add components to your computer.

Basically its saying if you add something that damages your computer, we can tell. Its your machine though you can open it up as much as you like! As long as you dont pour coffee in it and expect it to be fixed :p

Thats a joke, im kidding. im sure no one would do that....again.
