Electric Guitar - Which one to buy?

So for Christmas I am thinking of getting an electric guitar and trying to learn to play it! As I have never played any type of guitar before and know absolutely nothing about guitars I was wondering if anyone could recomend any good electric guitars for beginners. My budget is about £200 for the guitar alone, also I am left handed. So far I think the Yamaha Pacifica 112V sounds like quite a good value guitar.

Left handed?? First off, switch hands lol

Actually on a serious note, there seems to be limited selection when it comes to guitars for lefties, that being said, you can't really go wrong with a Yamaha if you want a budget guitar, they're of a standard and are slightly better than the cheap squires and other budget makes.

You could also look at some of the low end Ibanez or Epiphones

As a guitar player myself,to start learning with I would recommend you buy a cheapish acoustic guitar which can be played left or right handed (symmetrical in shape).
The guitar you have mentioned is right handed.
Being a right handed player I cant offer much more advice as it really is a different ball game.

Yamaha RGX121Z is a good guitar to start with, it's got a thin neck, pretty easy to play.

Cheers fo all the advice so far guys. Although Im quite sure that I want an electric guitar rather than an acoustical guitar and Im usless when it comes to trying to do something right handed in stead of lefty - I didnt actually realise that guitars were predominantly right handed, I just assumed that you would be able to get a left handed version of any of the guitars.
