First PC Spec

[Lou Knee]

Hi,

I want a general purpose Pc, nothing extreme but hopefully a bit future proof. There is so much information on overclocking on the net which makes it sound fun, so I put a K series cpu in the hope that I could tinker with it. My concern is that this is a waste of money or just plain stupid. Any suggestions appreciated.

Very nice! What's your budget??? The only change I would make if you were going to game on the PC I would recommend a slightly better graphics card maybe a GTX 660

Also if your not planning to overclock change up your i5 3570k for a 3570,

I cannot go to more than £1000 really. If I could run a few not too demanding games I would be happy.

I reckoned the only way to learn about overclocking is to do it, but my spec is not designed to take advantage of it, that my happen at a later date. If you smell something burning in a few weeks time it will probably be down to me.:yes:

Unless there are some games that demand more performance from your CPU you don't need to really need to Overclock, most games ,with a good processor, you can still run smoothly at max whilst not overclocking. For £1000, get an i5 3570, and a GTX 660Ti or 670.

I wouldn't bother with overclocking,it's not really going to improve anything on what you plan to use the PC for.
