Gaming i7 2600k

Well I've gone ahead and cancelled my 980x order as it doesn't make a lot of sense buying into old technology when the 2600k performs so well for very little cost. In fact, it seems to beat the 980x in most applications that don't utilise 6 cores so it should be great for gaming anyway. I'm looking at this spec now.....

I'm still undecided between the 16GB 1600mhz Ram or the 8GB 2133mhz and whether or not to get a 120GB SSD with 640GB WD Caviar Black or stick with the velociraptor. I don't like my files spread over different drives and I'm not convinced about getting an SSD just yet as the next generation ones are out next month.

HELP.

1. Go for 16GB 1600MHz over 8GB 2133MHZ - the performance speed of the memory doesn't make a huge difference, but 8GB does. However, not many programs if any, require 16GB of RAM at the moment.

2. SSD's are ultra fast and definitely recommended. Yes there are some "even faster" ones out soon, but in a few years even the new "even faster" drives will be slow compared to what's out then. My advice is to just on the SSD bandwagon now, and in a few years time then consider upgrading.

Do these new mobo's and SSD's support RAID as there is no option anymore on the config page?? Might get 2 240GB SSD's.

All the current models apart from the P8H67-M LX support RAID, and RAID has now been listed as an option on the configurator.

Yes that would provide a lot more performance in games, you might want to consider the HAF-X case instead though to keep the temperatures down.

It still seems a shame to get the SSD now when its only a few weeks until gen 3 releases

I would have said yes g oahead if it was like November or beginning of December but now, its so close to release, it seems a bit of a shame
