Hey, Im looking to get a gaming desktop with monitor, keyboard speakers etc. I will also be using it to make some music the main program will be ableton. Just wanted to check if there are any glaring issues, i can also go over a budget by a few hundred. I would also like advice about wireless, i assume i will need i wireless card as my router is downstairs and a cant be bothered with running a cable to it. Should i go for windows 8 or just stick with 7?

Firstly, I'd suggest getting Microsoft Secutiry Essentials over norton, it's free and as long as you don't click on to good to be free adds, it'll cover you! As for the wifi card, I'd suggest homeplugs, much more reliable and faster! Windows 7 vs Windows 8, your choice really! I'd personally go with Windows 8 but that is just my opinion, others will disagree! This would be my suggestion:

Cheers mate, that spec looks more sturdy, is there much difference in performance between 3GB AMD RADEON™ HD7950 and the 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 660 Ti? Im looking to play games like shogun 2 and battlefield 3 on highish settings. I assume the i5 processor will run these comfortably

Yes, do upgrade the CPU to the 3570. It's only £16 more. As for the 660ti vs the 7950. They are pretty similar and when I looked, I'd always seen people saying the 7950 was better, however, those benchmarks show differently and I think the benchmarks are more reliable! So, I was wrong, the 660ti is better. Now, the reason I would suggest you get a 7950 though is for future proofing. You will be able to add another 7950 with the spec I gave you. To sli 660ti you will need to upgrade the motherboard which costs £44 extra I think. Anyway, just a thought!

I changed some stuff around but unfortunately it went over budget by a little bit. I added the i5-3570 and upgraded the motherboard to a better spec that has wi-fi built in so you don't have to worry about that. I also upgraded the HDD so it will be faster. And more importantly i added aa sound card which will be essential if your making music. You might want to consider higher quality headphones and speakers for your music as well. All the rest is pretty good.

The only difference really is HDMI can carry sound to monitor speakers.

When i came to purchase my build it said i could downgrade my power supply, will this have a detrimental effect on how my pc will run? the one i am considering is:

450W Quiet 80 PLUS Dual Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan

Also is the 750GB SEAGATE MOMENTUS XT HYBRID, SATA 6 Gb/s, 32MB CACHE (7200 rpm) hard drive better then the 1TB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD1002FAEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm)?

If the configurator says it will suffice then you'll be fine.If intending on upgrading in future it would be beneficial to have a larger PSU.
