Gaming PC to a budget

Hey folks,

Buying my fiancee` a PC, because her laptop is 4 years old and doesn't cut it for games.

However, I'm not spectacularly technical and I'm out of date on what is and isn't "good" these days.

Could you please cast your eyes over the list below, and make any suggestions you think I should consider?

In particular, not sure about the processor / motherboard / graphics card choices. Open to alternatives (with reasons, preferably!).

What's the deal with Asus motherboards, PC Specialist? Isn't there any other choice?

Cheers all,
A.

Hi mgsolidus,

Thanks for the suggestion - I don't want a top-of-the-range GPU but I certainly want a capable one. However, not too sure about AMD...I prefer nVidia from past experience.

Is the Motherboard listed a "micro" atx? Is that a potential issue?

Cheers,
A.

Working to a £600 budget. Needs to include £32 wireless keyboard and also speakers in that (the speakers do NOT need to blow the roof off!)

I'm wondering if micro boards leave less options for later expansion.

Would prefer Intel / nVidia than AMD / AMD - but that's my personal preference, and if you have good reasons (i.e. more for less) going the AMD / AMD route, then I could be persuaded!

Personally with your budget I would go for an AMD build and get a better graphics card, the graphics card is the main component for gaming, maybe something like this
