Getting the subwoofer to work on the Vortex III sound system.

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me.

I originally set up the Realtek HD audio manager and everything worked fine including the subwoofer on my new Vortex III. A friend of mine has since looked at my system via remote access and he uninstalled the 'THX TruStudio PRO' software. I have since reinstalled it from the CD that come with the Vortex. Now that it is reinstalled, I have my speaker configuration set up as 7.1. All the speakers now work except the subwoofer but it worked when it first came with the computer. Can somebody please tell me where I am going wrong and how I get the subwoofer to work again?

Thanks

It only lets me test left and right, all i have listed in playback is High Definition Audio device, default device and then the same again listed but says not plugged in.

When i open up the small THX program box it says no supported devices.

When in speaker setup does it give the option to select quadrophonic,5.1 or 7.1 surround?if not and one of those is what your device is you could try reinstalling sound driver.

I have now found out how to get the subwoofer working along with the other speakers.

In Wayne's case, he may well not have the drivers installed not only for the THX Trustudio Pro but also the Realtek drivers. To check whether you have the Realtek software installed on your computer, go to Control Panel and see if it is there under 'Realtek HD Audio Manager.' If it is there, select it.

From here, choose the speaker configuration you wish to use and make sure the optional speakers are checked. You can then test them from here.

This is where I found out that my subwoofer did not work. To get it working, I had to open up the THX TruStudio PRO software.

With this software open, on the top right hand side of the screen, you need to click on the little menu arrow that will then drop down a list.

Choose 'Settings' and then where it says, 'Select your speaker setup' choose 'Headphones.'

Secondly, make sure the Crossover Frequency setting is all the way over to the right-hand side, in other words, 100%. Then click 'OK.' Once I did this, my subwoofer started to work.

Regarding how to set all the other settings within the THX TruStudio PRO program, this is all set out in the link below or you can use the sticky note labelled 'Audio Guide' on the top of this forum page. Good luck.
