Hey. I'm looking for a very good gaming rig which will last me a good few years. Having looked around PCSpecialist seems to be by far the best priced guys ;)

I dont need a monitor or windows or any extras, just the box. I was thinking of:

Case
Antec Nine Hundred Two

Processor (CPU)
Intel i7 950 (3.06ghz)

Motherboard
Asus P6X58D-E

Memory (RAM)
6gb Kingston DDR3 1600mhz

Graphics Card
1GB AMD Radeon 6870

2nd Graphics Card
None

Hard Disk 1
60GB OCZ Vertez SSD

Hard Disk 2
1TB Hard Drive 16mb Cache 7200rpm

PSU
Corsair 750w PSU TX750

+ DVD writer / Blu-ray re-writer + super quiet cooler

£1,266.00 inc VAT

I think thats a decent price for whats there. The cheaper i7 and GFX card certainly helps.

I was thinking, do i really need an SSD though, or if i did maybe one of the newer ones. Also do i stick with the 6870 or go with 2x 6870 or 2x 5780 or even a 5970 ot 480gtx?? My max budget is £1500 but ideally £1200-1300 would be great.

Thanks in advance for your time.

I strongly suggest you wait until Gen 3 Intel SSDs release, Q4 2010 or Q1 2011 latest.

Consider the Samsung 1333mhz RAM as 1600 is really only beneficial to overclockers, you wont notice any performance increase between the two.

Consider the 5870, its more powerful than the 6870 (with the money you save).

Sounds like a great idea. I just read up on the 3rd Gen ones and theres a huge improvement! I've also dropped the bluray player as i realised that i probably wouldnt even use it and its pretty easy to add it later if needed.

I've made my changes and also changed the 6870 to a 5970.

Thats put the price at £1,368.00 inc VAT which is very resonable i think for a i7 6gb and duel gpu card!

Yep thats quite a good deal! Ye, the 3rd Gen should me much much better, a 160Gb drive should cost about the same as the Gen 2 80GB

Go for a caviar green HDD instead of a standard one for better performance.
