Graphics card/driver/dvd drive problem

Now that the fans spinning, it may mean that you had a dodgy connection somewhere. How about going to the Nvidia site and trying to download the drivers again.

Have you tried running that hardware troubleshooter (post #14) since you got the fan spinning?

Check all connections & that all components are seated ok,if no joy try a clean install,as instructed in the welcome booklet,
failing that, give tech support a call (0844 499 4000)
