GTA 6 ready?

This will mainly be a normal everyday use PC that should be able to run GTA 6 at high settings/60fps when it comes out. I'm not a big gamer so basically just wanna enjoy GTA 6 better than console. I'll probably play RDR2 also. I'm looking at getting the Dell S3222DGM monitor. My budget is £1200-£1500 max. The only reason I'd pay £1500 is to get a RTX 4070 instead of 4060 but I think it may be overkill in my case.

Hi there, would need some more information to help:

Also, are you aware that GTA6 is over a year away?

Hi, thanks for the reply mate.

The monitor I'm looking at is the Dell S3222DGM which is 2560x1440 and the refresh rate is 144hz.

I will be mainly using it for web browsing, watching movies and work, extra CPU cores and RAM should help with some multitasking. I want to be able to play GTA 6 at high settings 1440p 60fps and probably Red Dead Redemption 2 aswell, I don't game very often but I want it to have the capability. I'm aware GTA 6 is over a year away but I still think we can speculate about what kind of specs should be able to run it in the future.

My budget is around £1200-£1500 but probably closer to £1200. I can get the RTX4060, Arc A770 or RX 7600XT for that budget and still run cyberpunk at 60fps ultra 1440p so that's enough for me.

Thanks for your help

We have absolutely no idea about requirements for the game as nothing has been announced, and won't be until a few months before release, so it's pure guesswork about what GPU / CPU would be best.

But knowing GTAs history, it’s going to be very graphically hungry, for 1440p I don’t think the budget will cover what’s required, will get you an entry level 1080p system.

Isn't it more like 1440p entry level? This CPU paired with a RX 7600XT can do 60fps based on a 12 game average at ultra settings 1440p. I think moving forward 60fps at medium/high settings for GTA 6 should be achievable.

But are there any bottlenecks on this rig or are the parts harmonious? Thanks for your help 👍

Each new generation of hardware tends to push up the game spec requirements pretty dramatically. GTA 6 is due for release around this time next year on consoles, but the PC version is potentially going to be as late as early 2026.

Current speculation is Nvidia's 5000-series GPUs will be releasing between late this year and middle of next year and so GTA6 will very likely be taking advantage of the increased power of that new hardware. You're probably going to want a RTX 4080 (or the AMD equivalent) to be sure of 1440 High performance for any of 2025's big releases. This is very much speculation on my part, but it's taken from experience of seeing how specs change generation to generation. Last year's releases have basically shown that anything less than 10GB of VRAM is not enough for 1440 or 4K gaming - my RTX 3080 is likely going to become obselete for AAA gaming at those resolutions before GTA 6 releases.

That's not how it works unfortunately. You're looking at a 12 game average for 60fps, where GTA will not even be close to the average. It'll hammer the CPU/GPU the same as V did. I was running a 6700k overclocked and a GTX1080 GPU at 1080p to get good frames. That's the equivalent of a 14900K and a 4080 nowadays...... for 1080p.

This was when 1080p was still a mainstream resolution, so I would say with confidence that the 1440p could be substituted into place with the hardware remaining, but you're still looking at far higher power requirements than a median line average.

You can happily build the system similar to you have suggested and get lower end 1440p performance (60-100fps isn't where we would aim a system at all), but you need to manage your expectations for what it will be able to achieve when GTA6 comes out (as above, with the likelihood being 2 years away).

None of us would advise in this fashion. The only thing we can advise is caution as it's all completely unknown. Best guess would be you're not going to hit a good level of performance in the game with your chosen hardware right now. We could be wrong though, hence why there is no sound advice to offer.

I also think that gta 6 will be a title that requires 3d vcache cpus to operate normally like hogwarts or Jedi Survivor, as well as procedural generation with AI NPCs similar to cyberpunk.

So you’d be looking at 7800c3d (9800x3d by that time)

The budget just isn’t there.

But this is all speculation
