HELP! My new computer wont turn on!

My order came today, i went by the book setting everything up and it was fine, i started windows and my desktop came up.. after 5 seconds my computer switched right off and started up straight away, after giving me options of safe mode and starting windows normally ect it proceeds to load.. then when the windows logo pops up saying 'loading' 5 seconds pass and it restarts from no ware jumping back to the mother board screen, this process keeps repeating its self and i have no idea what to do! any help would be appreciated! :confused::confused:

i have tryed both and no luck, and yes my desktop came up for around 5 seconds, i clicked the start button and pffft gone!

could be several things... my advice to u is best to wait for the site admins to come on so they can advise you more or wait til opening times and contact there technical support as they will know what system you bought and what setup was required.

Hello Jaccox.

Iv'e read your post and It could be a number of things.

1. Software related.
2. Issue with the operating system.
3. ( unlikely as it's a new build, but over heating issues )
4. Hardware related.

For hardware, you can open the case an check everything is connected properly.

Have you tried to add a new HDD? Installed new drivers? Removed any hardware? Checked the Device Manager to see if everything is working?

Finally ensure everything, I.e cables an expansion cards are connected properly to your computer.

For Software, if it's booting in * safe mode if you select it. It's unlikely to be software related. If it still doesn't work when choosing that option it probaly is.

I'd recommend basic trouble shooting for whatever operating system your running.

Last but not least a virus. * not saying it is, but it's common alot of viruses are written or made to reboot your computer.

The time period it can be rebooted can be anywhere from between, five seconds, to thirty minutes after switched on.

Have you been on the internet? And do have any Anti-Virus installed on your computer?

Either way, i'm sure if you give the technical team a call they will be happy to troubleshoot an guide you through the process to fix your computer.

Sorry to hear it's happened on a recently bought machine.

I know how that feels. i'ts the last thing you want to happen out of your excitment of your new purchase.

I'm not a worker or employee for PC Specialist, but always willing to help a hand.

First i'd check all your RAM, take it all out, insert one module at a time in Slot 1 Channel 1, check your mobo manual to find which slot this is. Next, try & boot, if it works, switch off & take out RAM, insert another & repeat till u find the culprit.

I havent added or tamperd with anything, i simply pluged my screen and power in and it went fine upto my desktop, i clicked start and it went off, ive had a quick look at all connections and nothing was out of place, i havent been on internet or anything like that so a virus is ruled out. but also when the windows loading screen comes up and it restarts, one of the fans speeds up like asif ive just hit the power button :confused:

Try reseating the ram and testing one by one like i said above. How many beeps (if any) do u hear when u power on the pc?

Yes that would be sysprep messing you up again, did you run disk cleanup to ditch the "windows.old" folder afterwards?

I had this problem with my old desktop but it was a virus so I had to get a new hard drive and upgraded my operating system.

Based on the details in the first post it doesn't sound to me that the OP even managed to access the Internet to be infected by a virus.

I'm due to receive a new PC in the next week or so, I am concerned that having to reload windows on a brand new machine appears to be somewhat widespread within the PCS community.

Does anyone know the definitive reason why this should occur ? Sysprep has been mentioned but surely an issue with sysprep would impact ALL PC's not just a subset ?

If my new PC needs to be rebuilt on the first day that I receive it I shall not be at all impressed :confused:
