hello :)
I have just ordered this all-in-one computer, I am worrying as I don't know a huge amount about computers and I am worrying that this is not going to be ok. I work as an illustrator so use photoshop sometimes, but nothing too demanding just cleaning up scanned artwork etc using a graphics tablet like a Wacom, and then my boyfriend plays strategy games so need so of mid graphics I guess he never places anything too graphically demanding. Do you guys think this spec is going to be ok and last a good few years too as a good allrounder?
Thank you :)

Oh you're more than fine. Don't sweat it. CPU is elite, RAM is enough, if it's not you'll absolutely know when that time comes. GPU is also in that sweet spot where you get the most bang for your buck. Better GPU's would be a little better, but way more expensive and weaker GPUs wouldn't have the same horsepower.
Storage drives are also elite too. The ancient wisdom, is "chain will be as strong as its weakest link" and you've all your bases covered.

Thank you !! was contemplating cancelling the order as I was seeing other posts about all-in-ones being a bit rubbish so was worrying! can you upgrade the computer then? I have seen some say yes and some say no that was another worry don't want to spend so much on a computer and then I cant upgrade if I need to like the RAM as you said
thanks again :)

It won't be particularly upgradeable, that's the issue with the all in ones. They're very expensive for the components you select and you'd get more from a normal PC and high end monitor in the long term.

Personally I wouldn't suggest an all in one.

if you don't mined me asking what would you suggest? my budget is about 1500 for pc and screen, and I need mid graphics ability, to be able to run photoshop and do minor editing, I work as an illustrator and work from home thankyou :)

Is the graphics card just for gaming or when you say "minor editing", does that use hardware acceleration?

The all in one also only had a 1080p 27" monitor which would be less than optimal for graphical work as the pixel density would be very poor. You really want a 4k or at least 1440p panel of around 28" for your kind of work

no it does not use hardware acceleration, feeling a bit worried now as I chatted to a woman about the pc at PCS and she said it would be good for what I want it for been debating for days so went and ordered it and then saw that there was a forum! I have ordered it now and paid for the fast track as my laptop that I use now had been really playing up and I need a computer for work :( looked in to cancel but I lose the money for the fast track and delivery

What stage is the PC in and when did you place the order?

If it's not in building stage then you won't lose any money I shouldn't imagine.

About an hour ago the payment has gone through it says processing
Ok, I wouldn't worry. They don't work on bank holidays, so they wouldn't start building it until tomorrow. If you call them first thing and explain that you'd like to cancel to put in a different order, I'm certain they wouldn't charge you anything.

I'm just drawing up a suggested spec, I'll post reviews and benchmarks so you can see the real world benefits.

fab thank you so much for your help, yeah I guess if I phone them with what I want it's a just a swap hopefully that will be ok. I have 1,500 but that got to include the screen and fast track delivery. ( there is a bit of wiggle room cash wise but not much )

The real benefit of a build like this is that it's fully upgradeable as you go on. The core components of CPU, Motherboard and RAM will last a good long while (5 years at least), and graphics and hard drives can be swapped or added as you like. The all in ones are fairly limited because of cooling and power supply and of course, space.

The other benefit of this build is that you can get a vastly superior monitor which would benefit both for gaming and graphics work.

At the left over budget (£200), I'd personally suggest the following AOC IPS 1440p Freesync at 75Hz:

Freesync means that it synchronises it's refresh rate with the graphics card, which for gaming makes it a much smoother experience.
It's IPS which means much more vivid colours which is important for graphics work.
The real benefit is that it's 1440p, so you get a lot more real estate than the 1080p on the all in one.

If the gaming side isn't so utterly important then I'd suggest going for a 4k panel for the graphical work something like the Samsung U28D590D which is 28" TN panel:

The samsung you selected was an SSD (solid state). This one's a standard HDD (spinning disk). Usually when working with drives you'll have an SSD as the drive for the OS and programs, and then just a standard HDD for data storage. There's no particular benefit to having an SSD for storage and it costs a lot more. The Barracuda's are excellent drives though.

I think it's a far superior setup for your requirements and in the long term.

I would say you wouldn't notice any deterioration over say around 5 years for the base configuration. (I'm still using my base configuration from 2013 quite happily). The only thing I'd say you may want to upgrade sooner would be the graphics card for gaming, perhaps in 3 years time or so.

I actually got one of these lately. Big upgrade in colours over my budget 1080p IPS panel from 2012

If fiddling with Freesync to get it playing nice on that monitor with an Nvidia GPU, this thread is very helpful:

And this post in particular:
Pendulum helps you assess if it's playing nice: https://www.nvidia.co.uk/coolstuff/demos

Whats the Power Supply of this build?
With the specs you listed i think is good enough for both gaming and working but i would recommend add more ram is still doable for your budget.
