Hi - Looking to buy a new Gaming PC and would love some eyes on it for help

Any suggestions would be welcome!

I built my last PC around 2016 which is:

Intel Core i7 6700K @ 4.00GHz
32.0GB Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 1071MHz (15-15-15-36)
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. MAXIMUS VIII HERO (LGA1151)

I since added - 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (ASUStek Computer Inc)

Plan is to move the RTX 3070 over to the new PC (unless anyone suggests getting a new Graphics card is best)

I also recently got a good deal on a Samsung 990 Pro 4TB which I'll be installing, so I just picked the cheapest m.2 to come with the new PC as I can't buy without a drive.

I'm aware that the PSU is more than I need.

Price (Ex VAT)
£1,395.00
Price
£1,674.00

Thanks in advance!

Hello, Which is your max budget? Any other use except gaming?

If I can stick to around £1800 that would be great, but if I need a graphics card then I know that will take it much higher.

I use it for gaming mainly and some coding on the side

I'd go with something like that, however I'm not sure if a 3070 can manage a dual QHD resolution properly.

For £2000, consider a 4070ti SUPER/7900XT or £2400 for a 4080 SUPER/7900XTX. It's your decision. :)

I'm clearly out of the loop with AMD vs Intel... AMD is the way to go?

You're saying it's better to have a boot drive even though I have a really fast 4TB m.2 drive going in? What's the reason for this?

In terms of the cooler, the 150 isn't worth the extra money?

Thank you for you help so far

Actually AMD is the only way to go ...
INTEL is a dead platform with no upgrades, more power consumption, higher temperatures, and higher prices.

Always keep separate OS from games, apps, and data.

A good air cooler (such as Deepcool AK620) is sufficient to cool down the 7800X3D. AIO is just aesthetics.
You can choose a 360mm for the best visual appeal. :)

Thank you! When I get home I'll put together another build and post it in here.

Another question about motherboards, the B560 chipset is the best for gaming?

B650 is a solid choice; in my opinion, an X670 is unnecessary for your needs.

The key differences between chipsets are shown below.

Any comparison site is garbage, because they don’t actually test anything. 3rd party reviews are the only valuable resources that actually do a range of benchmarks.
Okay, thanks. That one does claim to have tested: "GeekBench 5 Multi-Core is a cross-platform application developed in the form of CPU tests that independently recreate certain real-world tasks with which to accurately measure performance."

Do you have a good site for reviews of the latest CPUs?

I would hope that if you considered what you just wrote you would see how these metrics are skewed to paint a particular picture.

If you consider the link that you shared has the #gaming affixed to it, yet it claims to have tested using multi-core on geek bench 5 to test real world tasks...... that should tell you all you need to know about that particular gaming comparison.

3rd party reviews means real people actually testing components and comparing specific uses. Type hardware unboxed into youtube and have a look around at what a review should look like.

We love you Ukraine
3rd party reviewers will test a multitude of testing under proper scientific methodologies, both synthetic benches, but also actual real world performance in games and popular suites for editing or rendering.

Then they usually will do an average over all those examples to find general performance.

Any comparison site in existence is totally irrelevant information, they're almost always synthetic tests, and I have no shadow of a doubt that technical city didn't do any testing themselves, they've just scraped results from somewhere like CPU Benchmark.

But a multithreaded synthetic workload result to try to highlight gaming performance has absolutely zero relevance whatsoever.

Any of those comparison sites should be ignored. It's garbage data.

Any suggestions? I'm not sure what extra fans I do/don't need?

And I may add the GPU bracket

Looks good. My personal preference would be to ditch the fans in favour of the H150i AIO (It'll look the part and keep the CPU completely chilled. Cost delta of £50 but allows for any CPU upgrade without consideration also.
