What about having a blu ray rom / dvd rw? This would be a lot more future friendly especially for new games.

Im guessing this is a gaming computer by the specs? if not then consider not overclocking (not having the k brand 2600 processor)

Consider including an SSD as your primary drive to make boot times a lot quicker. Then have your Barracuda as your secondary drive.

I cant give you any advice on AMD though Im afraid, I dont really know enough about them.

This config is from overclockers but price kepps changing every now and then.

you said To future proof it get a bluray and ssd. Are these very easy to fit your self because for now i would like an over the top system thats why im choosing the i7 2600 but want the cost to be down for now. Well I know PCS would definitely install it on the SSD if it was selected as the 1st hard drive, couldn't say about anyone other company

the motherboard i suggest will be very similar to the one on your first post. I'm sure the only difference will be the manufacturer. I have recently bought a pc from PCS, and do have the ASUS® P8Z68-V PRO, and i do recommend it.

If you have any more questions just send me a private message, and I'm more than happy to help.

No worries mate, defo take your time and look at as many options as you can, you don't wanna rush into anything and buy the wrong component/product. I'd like to think that the pc in my sig will last a good few years, and like you said they only thing that might need upgrading is the GPU.

With reference to windows 8 i have no idea about anything details or anything, I have only just upgraded to 7.
