how do i start up in safe mode?

ive got a ukash virus and all the solutions i see say press f8 and then choose safe mode.when i do this though im taken to a different pc specialist page which is a bit daunting!!!

Boot your PC normally then once on your desktop click the start button and type msconfig and hit enter and then the system configuration window will open so click on the boot tab and then check the box for safe boot and click apply then ok and then you should get a window asking to restart now just select yes and you will reboot into safe mode, when you have sorted your virus and are ready to boot the system normally just repeat the above except uncheck safe boot option and restart.
