With the OS disk inserted boot the computer from the DVD drive.
Instructions on how to do a clean install are given in the welcome booklet.

There's not much to do really just pop in the disk then reboot. It should boot from the disk and then you just have to follow the instructions. Select format the disk and the OS should be installed on it.

its not booting from the disk though, i think the disk might be buggered
Did you try repeatedly hitting F8 on the keyboard during startup, failing that try setting DVD drive as first boot in bios.

Try and check in the BIOS if boot from disk is selected as the first option in the boot order list.

If your disk is damaged you may have to download an Windows 7 ISO file that you'd have to burn on a disk or mount on a USB stick then use your activation code. Here are some instructions http://www.pcworld.com/article/248995/how_to_install_windows_7_without_the_disc.html

Sorry if I didn't get into details I've gotta go to bed now early start tmr if you still need more help I'm sure people will try and help out tmr :)

there is no option to boot from disk in the bios which i find hard to believe, its either from the hard drive or nothing. im assuming then my disk reader doesnt work becuase the windows 8 disk boots on my laptop no problem

That's a possibility, best call tech support tomorrow, unless your confident opening the case to check for any dislodged connections.

What do you mean the product key doesn't work? 99% of the times they fail it is because of typing errors or because the code hasn't been copied correctly.

Glad you got there. :) I noticed on your proposed spec you selected windows 8,here's hoping you don't have any problems with drivers,if so you may need to go to manufacturers website for a compatible driver.
