i7 13700K and 4070ti build - HELP

Hi everyone,

I've finally decided to get rid of my 10-year-old PC now I've graduated. I want a future-proof PC that'll run any game at max settings. After some research into components and benchmarks, I'm fairly certain I want the i7 13700K and a 4070ti to achieve the future-proofing I want at the price I want.

Knowing this I slapped a custom build together rather quickly with the components I'd choose at a glance. I know there are a lot of experts out there who will be able to help me optimise this so please give any suggestions! I'd like to get it as close to £2000 as I can but can do more if it's worth it. Thanks :)

I'm intending to upgrade my monitor to 144hz 4k (currently 1080p). I will mostly use the PC for gaming. The budget is £2000-£2500.

What's your budget for the monitor as that will affect if you can get 4k 144Hz?
Will be around £500-600 when I get to it. I currently use 2 144hz 1080p monitors and want to replace both eventually. I want to get a 240hz first so I might not even get around to the 4k monitor for a while - Guess I should consider this when buying the overpriced 4070ti.

4070ti wouldn't be very good for 4k over 60hz anyway without reducing settings quite a lot, you really need the 4080

Considering this, I'll stay with 1080p/1440p instead of 4k. Not worth the jump in price for me. I just want the most optimal gaming PC I can buy for around £2-2.5k that has a clean look!
1080p is a dreadful experience and should be avoided at any cost, there's just no place for it with your budget.

A really good ultrawide setup would be far more beneficial which is 1.5x 1440p so you have extra width which is much more immersive in games

Okay, thanks for the input - I'll consider this when buying a new monitor! Any advice on the build? Kinda slapped it together so I know there are improvements needing to be made.

I wouldn't suggest either Intel or nVidia, you'll get far more performance with AMD at the same budget

Thanks for this! The build looks really good. Only thing I'm concerned about is the AMD card - I've heard they have a lot of driver issues.

The 5000 series were a write off, there was something inherently wrong with that generation and they never got around the driver issues. The 6000 series were a lot better although still had problems

The 7000 series are far better, Lisa Su has invested heavily in top tier programmers to address rhe situation.

But yes, they still take a lot more troubleshooting than an nvidia driver, its just that at your budget all the nvidia cards absolutely suck.

I see. I don't know a lot about the AMD card but I don't want to be troubleshooting bad drivers all the time. Why are the NVIDIA cards bad at my price point?

The 4070ti is not a 4070ti in power or price. Its a 4070 in prower and a 4080 in cost. They were initially planning to sell is as a 4080 lower tier but got so much backlash (as its entirely different silicon to the 4080)

It's a complete swindle. Until the price reduces by a good £200 it's just not worth buying at all.
