Bad times. I'm on my 11th working day and my Optimus II 15" has only just left pre-production.
Its now awaiting i7-2760QM. Do any of the PCS people know when they're due roughly?

I'm tempted to just get a refund and to get this from [another source] (they have the things in stock). Probably won't be as nice but it'll get here quicker and cheaper...

in the place of

Optimus II: 15.6" Glossy Full HD LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-2760QM (2.40GHz) 6MB

How do you think the two laptops + companies compare? Has anyone had experience of both?

Just received an email saying "Stock is on order with an ETA of 18-10-2011" So that answered my question!

I was partly a little disgruntled since I was told on friday that it'd probably be dispatched today. I'm usually quite patient =/ Not when it comes to this it seems.

ah ok thanks. I would still be interested on peoples thoughts about the two companies and laptops I've linked though. It did seem a fair bit cheaper.

I've had the same issue, my order has been waiting stock for the same processor, but it is no longer! Looking forward to getting my laptop :D

of companies taking so long to ship laptops and not admitting when they cant, and heavily moderating their forums so that new customers don't even realize its happening..

Honestly, not heard anything bad about you guys as of yet though... but no harm in checking stuff out? right? I mean kobalt was a terrible, mortifying experience that no one should have to go through in their lives.

Hmmm, well i think you can find enough info on these forums and on all the independent review sites to verify that we are all above board. We even have the check rate sign on our homepage which verifies our financial stability.

As an Intel platinum partner we get priority on stock, but there will still always be items in constraint. You are not buying an off the shelf item from pcworld, Ebuyer etc., they are made to order, so even though we hold lots of stock, on occasion a delivery will be late or an item will be in constraint meaning deliveries of customers will slip.

For information, the recent floods in Thailand have catastrophically damaged the HDD industry in Thailand. A large part of the world’s HDD production comes from Thailand, and we have already seen price increase of 25-30% on most HDD Lines. Western Digital have also put a limit on the number of drives companies can buy, and are expecting that stock will run out very shortly. Just an example of how problems on the other side of the world can affect you getting your pc / laptop on time.

Relax. I can tell that from my own experiences with PCS's ex competitor. At least these guys saying out loud if necessary that there are some issues time to time with suppliers. They ain't gonna let you wait for 11 weeks with all sort of excuses, as it happened to me. I'm really hopeful to say that PCS will offer some sort of reasonable solution if somebody not happy to wait.

I'm still in pre-production on my Vortex 15.6" matte screen computer, 12th working day soon to be 13th in 6 minutes ^^
Ordered the same CPU as you, dno if they use the same screen.

Although this is my first order from PCSpecialist I would stick to my order. Seeing how their reviews outside of this site is over the top.
Also not to forget the wide range of customizing + price.

Vortex II: 15.6" Matte 95% Gamut LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-2760QM (2.40GHz) 6MB
8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 (2 x 4GB)
2GB AMD® Radeon® HD 6990M - DirectX® 11 (15.6" Vortex II)
750GB WD SCORPIO BLACK WD7500BPKT, SATA 3 Gb/s, 16MB CACHE (7200 rpm)

No one likes to wait for stuff, but these days it's inevitable :p I have no worries about PCS as a company, and understand that parts will go out of stock...especially as this is probably one of the most popular processors for the performance at this price point (Check me and my alliteration!)

Fingers crossed I'll get it this week :)

Agree with that, no-one likes to wait for anything anymore, especially when you're spending aroun £1000 on something! If I could have done a fast track with a 2760 I'd have definitely paid the extra.. I hope you got a lot of them yesterday in as I only ordered on Friday and it sounds like there might have been a queue!

We have stock coming in constantly and more than enough stock on order for every component we sell and at all times. If Intel fail to deliver to us then this is when constraints can occur.
