Just a quick question guys...

Hey Everyone :)

I'm new to Pc Specialist and ordered my first Pc off them last Tuesday. I got an e-mail yesterday saying there is a shortage on 450W PSU's and that they won't have any in until next Tuesday, the 31st. I don't really mind because it is just another week and a bit until it arrives but my main question to you wonderful people is this, will a 450W PSU support these chosen pieces of hardware :

Processor (CPU)
AMD PHENOM II X6 1055T (2.80GHz/9MB CACHE/AM3/)

Motherboard
ASUS® M4A87TD/USB3: DUAL DDR3,SATA 6.0GB/s, USB 3.0

Memory (RAM)
4GB CORSAIR XMS3 DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (2 x 2GB KIT)

Graphics Card
2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX460 GDDR5 PCI EXPRESS - DirectX® 11

My original choice was a 600W PSU but then Pc Specialist informed me that i could save some money and power the system on a 450W PSU. I'm not saying i don't trust their advice it's just 450W seems a little low.

Thanks, all help and advice is very much appreciated :)

On paper it should be fine, just. Over time it will lose output and you may run into problems.

As always i would suggest a minimum of a Corsair 650w for any mid to high end gaming rig that needs to last.

Agreed, if your budget can stretch then the Corsair TX650 would be ideal for your specification. The 450W should work ok, but it also limits the upgrade potential of your PC should you wish to add extra HDDs or another Graphics Card in the future.

Hey guys, thanks for all your advice, i'm going to go for the 600W PSU as its only an extra £34 and it will arrive quicker as that part is in stock, cheers :)
