Looking for advice on purchasing a customised PC

Hi all

I’m looking for advice on the setup of a PC, the build and optimisation.

I would like a fully optimised PC for playing Old School RuneScape in HD. All though the game can play on an integrated GPU, the HD can require a better GPU to run at 50fps but it’s mainly processor demanding not GPU.

I used to have an i7-10600F with a 2060 Nvidia Geforce GPU and I played Warzone, Elder Scrolls online and RuneScape at very good settings without complaints.

I currently don’t play Warzone but for longevity I’m wanting to future proof by having a setup that can play warzone at 120-144fps, 1080P with a monitor to match as this would automatically be good enough for RuneScape too.

However.. as I don’t currently play Warzone, wondered if it would cost a lot less to buy a setup that could only play RuneScape and just needed a better GPU which is something I could change if I chose to play again in the future.

Hope this makes sense..

What's your max budget? What about the monitor?

I would say £1,000 - £1,500 if I’m honest, monitor size 24inch, 144hz, HD 1080 max really.. I’ve no need for better or bigger.

Something like that should be enough for a decent FHD system and you'll have some room for future upgrades.

I don't play Warzone, but I've heard it's been ''broken'' since Season 3 and frame rate has been significantly dropped. I'm not sure if it's been fixed yet.

Thankyou - if I wanted to opt to only play RuneScape therefore requiring a setup less optimised. What would you advise to change? I just want to see if it is a huge difference in total price.

To be honest, I have no idea what RuneScape requires  despite this, the above build is a quite simple FHD system.
I wouldn't go much lower than those specifications: you can save roughly £70-£80 with a Ryzen 5, but I don't think it's worth it.

What monitor do you recommend? And does the setup include wireless Wi-Fi?

Will the build last a good 5-7 years? Would there be any benefit going for a Ryzen 9?

Lastly, I know you’ve quoted it to my budget but I do prefer other cases, are there any I should entirely avoid?

What monitor do you recommend?
To begin with, I’d say that resolution is dead on me, but for a monitor, I’d suggest LG Ultragear, Samsung Odyssey, or AOC.

Yes, WIFI is integrated in the ASUS® TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI (AM5, DDR5, PCIe 4.0, Wi-Fi 6).

I suppose that when gaming becomes heavier than it is currently, you'll need to upgrade your GPU.

Any case that is made of extremely cheap materials, doesn't provide for adequate cable management space, or doesn't allow for appropriate airflow should be avoided.

Thanks!

The case you recommended has pre installed rgb fans, if I was to opt for the HYTE Y40 BLACK MID-TOWER CASE, would I need to add extra fans? Much prefer the look for my office space.

HYTE Y40 has good quality but airflow is far from the best so I will not choose it.
Consider a 5000D (with a couple of extra fans) as an alternative, or simply turn off the RGBs.

Thank you very much for your help. I promise last Q.. if it was your build, would you change anything if you had an extra £500 in budget? Or would it not make a huge difference?

So, you have a budget of £2,000? I'd go with a QHD build.

This is why we ask for the max budget at the outset is to avoid all these changing of minds. A max budget doesn’t change, it’s the maximum you have available for this purchase.

I’d also question why you’re replacing your current pc if it’s a 10th generation Intel, assuming it’s a half decent design, it’s got many years of life left in it, kind of pointless buying a gaming pc if you’re just going to replace it after a couple of years rather than upgrade it.

It’s because I’d think about financing it rather than cash and the price per month doesn’t change that drastically.

I don’t have the PC anymore unfortunately, I sold it due to personal circumstances about 18 months ago.

Apologies..

Would you be able to send an example of parts to support the 1440p resolution?
Sure, something along those lines :)
