Lose Broadband Connection Evertime I Reboot PC

I had my new PC delivered earlier today and got it all setup and connected up my Scientific Atlanta (Cisco) 2100 CableModem to the onboard RJ45 ethernet port and my Virgin Media Broadband Internet worked 1st time of asking.
I then verified the Windows 7 home Premium and surfed the internet for a while using the pre-installed Internet Explorer 8 and everything was fine, when I switched the PC off and rebooted and opened up IE8 no web pages would load. I noticed that in the bottom right corner of the screen there was a red cross (on the monitor screen icon for the network connection) and then I got a pop up window appear on screen for dial-up internet.
I then went into INTERNET OPTIONS > CONNECTION and deleted the dial up connection as i'm connecting using LAN and managed to get the internet working again, but when I rebooted the PC I lose the internet connection again!! there must be a conflict somewhere thats causing this to happen.

Please Help it's driving me nuts :(

Windows will automatically detect (assuming it's connected to the router that has already been pre-configured) and configure internet and network access. So yeah, to be honest with you it's simple as plug and play. Is this windows installation one done by yourself from a retail disc? (Just checking)

Did you turn off your cable modem before connecting to your new PC, if not you might try unplugging the cable modem and turning off your PC, and leaving it unplugged for about a minute (i.e. give it time to reset anything it wants to), then plugging it in and let it get organised and ready, and once it claims its ready turn on your PC.

Those cable modems can be a bit picky about anything including the order in which they are connected.

You should never get a popup for dial-up internet. Your computer would only assume dial-up if it's been configured this was, or if you have one of those viruses that make you dial an 0901 number (unlikely these days).

I suggest you remove all internet connections and try again. Also, if the network connection had a red cross, it seems as though the problem was related to your router?

Welcome to our forums! You can try this:

Shutdown and restart, hopefully it works now!

I don't have a router or wireless connection the cable modem just connects straight into the RJ45 port on the back of the PC, Windows 7 home premium 64 bit was installed by PC specialist

Please see attachment for the Network sharing centre (as i haven't switched the PC off overnight as I didn't want to lose connection to this very helpful forum)

Yes, but, you probably still have a 56k data fax modem on the motherboard itself, and, for some unknown reason its taking over the connection. So, by disabling it, you should always get your LAN connection back through ethernet everytime on startup.

If I then click on Local area connection and look at the properties see attachment

You need to click on "change adapter settings" Can you post a screenshot of that please?

If I then click on SEE FULL MAP I get the following

This is normal if you're computer is not in a network, or, not in teh same network as you other PCs (e.g. Windows XP pcs are in the network "MSHOME" if you dont change you comp to this workgroup, you will not see the other PCs you may have connected to your network. If you have none at all apart fromt his computer then that screen is perfectly normal :)

Can you post me your system specs? Bit confused as to why its saying a PCIe ethernet, surely your motherboard has onboard ethernet?

Might just be a bad driver, thinking its another piece of hardware than it actually is. If I know your motherboard type I can find out.

EDIT: Im blind, its on first page.

I've just switched everything off and left it for a few minutes and then switched the cable modem on and left it on a few minutes to sort itself out before switching the PC on, once the PC has booted up I have no connection again so i've taken some screenshots of what I see (see attached) but here's the weird part if I don't completely shutdown the PC but instead click on restart and when the PC reboots it connects to the internet!!

Sleinous I posted the spec of my PC in my 1st post but if there's something else you need to see can you tell me how to locate it and i'll gladly post a screenshot for you

BTW the motherboard is ASUS P7P55D-E

Sleinous i'm trying to download that driver but its saying File not available :(

My bad, was still connected to university VPN, seems it hates uploading when on that, reuploading to megaupload now.

EDIT: No idea what is going on with my net now -.- failed to upload to MU too. May have to do this by email in a bit....

EDIT: http://www.sendspace.com/file/rnc8pu

EDIT: restart system after, note I think there is still something dodgy in your ethernet settings too though, so not gonna be surprised if it still doesnt auto-connect you.

Thanks sleinous i'll give it a try and fingers crossed it works

Only had the PC delivered yesterday and I haven't had chance to install things on the pc as yet (apart from windows update) so in theory everything should work

Yep, unfortunately, sometimes, windows update installs the wrong ethernet host controller for your motherboard. This one is straight from ASUS, latest driver for your board so atleast we know once that's installed that's one inconsistency stomped out. If it still doesnt autoconnect, im pretty sure there's something incorrectly auto-configured in your ethernet adapter settings > properties.
