good luck wozza,

I'm afraid I cant help, even though I have equivalent to a A level at maths. No idea how I got that. Only had one good teacher in my life at maths and by that time I was too far behind to learn everything, then the teacher moved on. Was good at maths when younger but due to teachers not taking giving a bean, and not wanting to help me, when I was a teenager I kinda gave up hope of ever being able to learn most of it.

I hated school, only a few subjects I enjoyed due the certain teachers, subjects that I was very good at, such as History I saw not aloud to choose as a gcse subject because the female teacher didn't like boys as girls get higher grades, so she wouldn't let me do history. She honestly told my parents that I'm not to choose history, the same happened with my geography teacher "pervy dave"

Part of the problems is kids have to grow up too soon in this country, at 14/15/16 they are supposed to know what they wanna do with their for their whole life? How is a young teenage lad/lass supposed to know that? At 16 did you know exactly what you wanted to do with your whole life? And did you do that?

What are we meant to do? wait till were 25 to decide where our education is going to take us? Take a system like my mum had in France, they have specialist groups rather than picking indivudla subjects. So for example you may pick the scientific group, this may seem great but you may be strong in certain subjects and not in others which results in bad grades. Our eduaction system remains one of the best in the world for a reason, obviously we can always improve and I hope they continue to do so, but I think our system of GCSE and A-Level is great.

Just because you choose to do particular A-Levels doesn't define who you will be and what you will do for the rest of your life, btu it gives you a good grounding if you choose to do such education. I did Maths, Further Maths and Physics, none of which have anything to do with the degree I have. Granted they have everythign to do with my first degree but education is more for yourself than for your job. Getting a job is way mroe about experience than education, and even with a great education half the tiem it makes no difference what the subjects are. The main thing employers look for is that you have good grades, this demonstrates an ability to learn. Ive seen developers be taken on by world leading companies who have no programming experience but showed outstanding grades in geography, they were taken on because they showed a passion for the work and a willingness to learn, not because they chose the correct A-Levels.

when i was 16 i wanted to produce music, do something production based, was also hoping to get into a band

what happened? met a load of useless musicians, ended up drinking and taking drugs (a lot) from 16-18

my friends just went into jobs, nobody really knew what they wanted to do, some accepted their job and just did that, others wasted time doing A levels and studying at college.

i think the problem is not knowing your options, I didn't know what I could have gone onto do.
