Hey there people :)

Not a huge issue, but I have tried 3 types of memory card: SD, Mini SD and Micro SD; but none of them are recognised.

The USB port works though.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

might sound stupid but have you made sure you have the correct and up to date drivers installed?

good question. Do you know what brand/make the reader is?

Doesn't show in Start>Computer>Devices with removable storage. There are no drive letters listed...hmmm...?

Got to mention this as it's happened a few times,
are you inserting the cards the right way up,
some card readers differ that way.

Lol, yeah, good point. I tried both ways before posting :)

Drivers seem up to date, according to Windows....

hmm, its weird that the USB port is working otherwise id suggest finding the 7-pin for the memory card reader on the motherboard, although you could try taking it out and putting it back in see if that does anything, it may reinstall the driver and it may work

I'll try this later and let you know how it goes.

go to windows and type in 'partitions' there should only be one option, open this, and then scroll down to see if there is your memory card, if its there then it may be hidden from my computer, so try and find 'unhide' or something similar

Does your yellow light stay on after you remove the card? mine does.

Does your red light stay on all the time? Mine does.

Could be a faulty card reader, couple of things you could try if you've a mind to.
Turn the computer off as normal.
Turn off the PSU switch on the back of PC
Press and hold the front power switch for 30 seconds up to a minute.
Turn the computer on again at back of PC
Turn PC on as normal.
Failing that you could try Gormans suggestion from a previous thread.
Turn the computer off as normal.
* Turn off the PSU switch on the back of PC
* Unplug the internal USB cable going from the card reader to the mainboard
* Turn the computer on again at back of PC
* Turn PC on via front power switch
* Let Windows load
* Turn the computer off as normal.
* Turn off the PSU switch on the back of PC
* Plug the internal cable back in
* Turn the computer on again at back of PC
* Turn PC on via front power switch
* Let windows load and install drivers automatically
* Reboot once more.

I've fixed my not working card reader, all i did was :
Dissconnect the cable from the motherboard (card readers) and connect it to another port!
and thats all, it works fine for me!
try it, it might work for you :)
