My Dream Machine ... or is it ?

I have been looking to replace my existing PC for about a year now and have finally come up with this spec.

Soon to retire I am looking for something that will last a good few years and will be used for Video Editing and gaming (Flight Simulator).

I appreciate that parts are currently hard to get hold of and wonder how long an estimated build time may be? How could I speed this up ?

Your thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

Thanks for your advice, especially about the power of Threadripper.

I really wasn't sure about it and had looked at the Ryzen 9 too but when all you have to go on is a set of figures in reviews rather than practical hands on use it's easy to get carried away !

The video editing I do is purely hobby stuff, nothing professional. I use DaVinci Resolve and Pinnacle Studio.

Hi thanks for your help.

With regards SSD selection I can guess that you've upgraded the Samsung 500 GB for better performance for minimal cost increase - this drive is for O/S and programmes.

The 250gb drive was to be used as a scratch drive and I see you've suggested a 1GB drive of a different make- can I ask what the rationale behind this is ?

Re the GPU, the equivalent AMD one has the same message re delievry times so unless someone on here knows the actual position I guess I'll be left in the dark. May as well stick with what I selected.

Re the case, it's a little wider than I would like.

Would this be OK?

Corsair iCue 465X RGB Gaming Case with the Corsair H100i RGB platinum Cooler. The cooler gets good reviews so not sure that thermals would be affected much ? What else would I be missing out on ?

Re-configured spec

Have updated spec as follows, my rationale is;

1) I have chosen a smaller case as the larger one will not fit my work space.
2) Larger SSD for O/S and programmes. Smaller to use as scratch disc.
3) Corsair H100i cooling as it fits case, is recommended as meeting spec by AMD and has LED's !
4) Sound card as I sometimes record guitar / keyboard via external device (Scarlett 2i2) and need beter than onboard sound to support it.

Any further thoughts / advice?
