My first gaming PC

Hi there,

I have ordered this already and done a few tweaks which will show, its mainly going to be used by my other half to play Sims 4 with some mods and I will be using it for city skylines with a number of mods on there and maybe a few other games like battlefiled 5 and Skyrim. Do the below specs look ok for this. It is in day 24 and still in pre-production so no room for changes now I would say

To be brutally honest mate it's a bit of a mess, there's a lot we can do to tweak this and get the most for your money. Can you let us know your budget?

Agreed with the above. It could do with some tweaks.

Also provide the reconfiguration link :)

The budget was £1500 with the monitor, the case was the one my missis wanted
If you really want a white case I would recommend getting a Corsair 4000D white from Amazon and sending it to PCS.

I always like to recommend tried and tested cases and the Corsair 4000D is very very solid. I'll throw something together here to give you an idea of what I'd do for £1500

This is where I would go but honestly I would get my monitor elsewhere. There are better deals on better monitors on the likes of Amazon

Ideally if you spend the whole £1500 on the machine you could get this same build with a 3060Ti and no monitor for £1471. Which is a good 1440p build. You would need around £250-£300 though for a monitor to suit the 3060Ti

I like the look of it the only issue is it doesn't give me the option to do the RAM at 3200mhz, I might upgrade it in the next 6 months or so too 3200mhz

You've selected Home/Office computers instead of Ryzen Extreme Computers when selecting your configurator mate. I'd honestly just cancel it with PCS and go again or give them a ring and have the order transferred to another option. If you have the quote number handy they should be able to do that no problem

RAM speed is critical with Ryzen processors, they really need fast RAM to function properly

Ah I was unaware of that, with transferring through would that mean that I would need to go to the back of the queue and wait again?

Honestly don't know it's something you can ask them, I've seen other people changing their builds and not affecting their queue position but only PCS can answer that mate

as long as you ring them and explain i dont think you go to the back of the queue if you cancel without contacting them you will go to the back of the queue steveyg build is a way better balanced build i personally would opt for it even if it means waiting longer

Thanks will give them a call when on lunch in 15mins and see what they say. I might see if I can change to the build your made up. the onyl query I have with that is the graphics card is that going to be ok for the games I am looking to run

Yeah the 1660 a solid 1080p card. Which the monitor you've chosen is 1080p

The 3060Ti you had selected in your original build is really a 1440p card. It's wasted at 1080p and would need a monitor to suit it

ok so after speaking to PCS I have had to cancel the order down as can't transfer over onto a new order. So either get a pre-built next day one or order this one below. Does this look ok for what I need it to do????

To be honest no. The build by @Steveyg was far better. You don't want the 3800X since the 5600X is better. You don't really want that cooler. Use a Coolermaster AIO with a 5600X or even use the stock cooler. I question whether the TUF 550 board is better than the Prime but it's not a big deal.

I'd also argue you can do better that the monitor you've chosen. Also though if you are choosing a 1080p 75Hz refresh monitor, I'm not quite seeing why you need a 2060 Super.

Yeah mate no, the case is terrible. It looks great but it's horrific for airflow, it's basically an oven

The CPU is 2 years old now out performed by the similarly priced 5600x

Odd M.2 mixed with HDD storage

750W RMx is fine. We usually recommend the 850W just so that every GPU is an option but the 750W is fine

CPU cooler isn't proven like others PCS offer.

Bullguard causes more problems than it solved. Plus Windows Defender is free with Windows and the same
