Hi Guys, I'd love it if you could tell me of any ammendments i should make. I'm in the pre-production stage at the minute. Only thing I'm really worried about is the slow write speed of the ssd. But I'm a noob so might be worried over nothing.

I'll be adding hard drives and BR burner later. Didnt really need the wireless but thought what the hell. Maxed out at the minute, so thats why the drives to come later.

Thank you.

Oh, lol didn't realise that the cpu on the first spec is not the K version and that the cpu cooler isn't sufficient :(
Well spotted +rep

Id ditch the SSD and wait for Intel gen 3, 160gb will cost the price of that 80gb and perform way better :p

Thank you all for the advice!! May phone in 2moro to swap out the ssd for a similar priced hdd so as not to go through any headaches cancelling and re-clearing payment, if thats possible. Hopefully a staff member will see this when I'm in work and advise me!! ;-)
Main thing I want is future proofing. (amd 'bulldozers' shouldnt be far off!!) I will be playing 1080p's, converting mkv's, unpacking rar's, browsing all at the same time, and probably a bit of gaming on its own. Maybe some music mixing/creating which is why the 2 sound options.

Bang for buck I thought i was better off amd than intel, but some of the comments are changing my mind. The £1,115 really is me MAXED out for the next few weeks. Plus im at the 'pre-production stage of the process so what happens to the CC payment ive made if i change the spec? Dont want to mess the guys about!! They're building my new baby!!! lol

By the way, forgive any mistakes as I am a complete noob. Thanks

I've managed to cut down the cost of my spec now its less than £1,115

thanks BG92

but why intel quad instead of amd hex core? For future proofing they have new architecture bulldozer processors on the way this year! Also you have no second souncard capabilities, wireless, usb 3 (or is the motherboard usb3 externally available to use?) and the hdmi cable is full size with the motherboard mHDMI.
I also dont need any software.

I do appreciate the help though!!

(also, off topic, anyone 'theoretically' ;-) know of a stripped down windows 7 out there safe and stable? I've heard that most of it is never used)

Without the OS, I managed to get this spec within your budget,
This intel quad core performs better than the i7-950 and the i7-950 outperforms the x6 1090. You will futureproof the most with a system than performs the best. in this case the i7 2600, btw did you mean second graphics card capabilities, the spec below does have these capabilities

The Zambezi Bulldozer CPU's won't be out until March/April time and will require a new socket AM3+/AM4 so you'll need to buy a new motherboard as well as a new CPU when it launches. You could go with a cheaper Phenom II X4 955 build with the intention to buy a new motherboard and CPU in a few months but the current Sandy Bridge lineup is very strong.

I dont think there are any legal stripped down versions out there :(

USB3 is no biggy as u can buy a PCIe expansion card for it later.
Id avoid the HDMI gimmick and go DVI (both standards carry audio). Had odd issues with mHDMI to HDMI :/

Yep its possible to ring 'em up and get the change made so u dont lose your position in the building queue :D

Id stick to your AMD hex core.

Lastly, x64 winrar'ing is win.

Lastly, x64 winrar'ing is win.

Thanks guys! But I didnt understand this bit^

Decided to swap out the ssd for 1.5tb standard hdd and upgrade to a BR burner

Item 1
Change to 1.5TB SERIAL ATA 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 32MB CACHE (7200rpm) from 80GB Intel® X25-M 2.5" SSD (34nm / upto 250MB/sR | 70MB/sW)***SPECIAL***

Item 2
Change to 12x BLU-RAY RE-WRITER DRIVE, 16x DVD ±R/±RW (£90) from 24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM

Was thinking of going to the new intels but went solely on Sleinous advice. Looking forward to the thing getting here now!!

Thanks all!!

I'd consider the WD1002FAEX 64mb cached HDD if youre going mechanical (over the 32mb cached drive).

Also, I meant x64 (64bit) rar unarchiving / rearchiving is fast (hence the win :D)

Note: I mean using the 64bit version of WinRar, not just running 32bit WinRar on a 64bit OS =P

Oh yeah thanks. The hdd willl be 1 of many so will leave as is for budget at present. Im on an intel t7200 laptop til now 32bit so unpacking rars seems to be the slowest thing I use the comp for at the minute. And 'theoretically' have you heard of an 'illegal' stripped windows 7 thats stable? Of coarse I wouldnt dream of doing such a thing! lol
