Hello,

I'm wanting to build a new gaming PC now that my current one is 4 years old and outdated. I'm hoping to get an RTX 3060Ti and Ryzen 7 5800X so I have tried to build around them. I am undecided on a motherboard as I have watched countless videos and read many articles but still haven't come to a proper conclusion for one so I'd appreciate some advice. I decided to go for one 1TB m.2 SSD, one 1TB SSD, and one 2TB HDD. My thoughts were to install OS and some very demanding games onto the m.2 SSD/SSD then games like CSGO/RL onto my HDD. Admittedly I'm not the best with PCs so I would appreciate any help so I'll leave the full specifications below, thanks.

Hi there,
Good start on the build. There are a few things I would adjust, so it would be handy if you could answer the following for us.

What is your budget?
Any uses besides gaming? e.g Streaming, Photoshop, Editing, Rendering etc
What monitor do you have? Make/model or resolution and refresh rate would be handy to know. We pair the GPU to the screen. For example the 3060ti would be a good match with a 1440p display, but would be overkill for most 1080p monitors.

My budget is around £2000 but I don't mind paying a little extra if need be. I'll most likely use the PC for mostly gaming or just watching stuff. I play a lot of CSGO but I play low settings/res to max FPS but would like to play games such as Cyberpunk 2077 and AC Valhalla. My current monitor is an ASUS VG248QE which is a 1080p 144Hz monitor. My thinking was that eventually, I'll upgrade my monitor but because the jump from 144-240Hz isn't as 'significant' as the jump from 60-144Hz I've decided to hold off for the meantime. I'm aware the 144Hz to 240Hz is a lot larger but I mean it in terms of me seeing a large change in-game. My thinking was also that with the 3060Ti being significantly cheaper than the 2070 and outperforming it, I figured I would be better off going for it. Or am I still better off going for a different GPU?

Ok, if you can post a link to your build above, we can make a few changes that will make it a better system that will last more than the 4 years you're saying your existing one did

Sorry, I'm not sure how to post a link to my build as it'll only let me copy the specifications. I've tried to copy the URL which gives 'https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers/amd-am4-overclocked/' but I imagine this will give you a different page as to mine.

Ok I've put this together, their isn't really a lot of point in overclocking the Ryzens as they self boost when required, even though you are only using a 1080p 144 monitor I've left the 3060Ti in as then you could move up to 1440p by purchasing something like the Samsung Odyssey G5, and you'll notice a difference going from 1080 to 1440

Okay, thank you for this, with the saved money I could even put it towards getting a 1440p monitor. One last question, do you have any idea as to when the 3060Ti will restock? Or is it just anyone's guess?

It restocks daily, but is always listed as ‘pre-order’ as there isnt enough stock to fulfill everyones builds everyday - thats why you usually have to wait an extra week or two more than the delivery date shown. Many 3060 Ti build owners are saying it took around 24-28 days for their build to arrive.

Hello, I've posted on this forum before but have since changed my mind a few times on certain things. I initially went for a 3060ti and Ryzen 7 5800 but recently decided I don't need the extra cores the 5800 has since this is purely a gaming PC so I went for a 5600 instead.

This saved me around £150 and I started thinking about whether I should then use this money to upgrade the GPU to an RTX 3070 instead since my budget is around £2200. The main games I'm wanting to play are; AC Valhalla, Cyberpunk, GTA V, CSGO, and Hitman 3. I'm currently using a 1080p 144Hz monitor(ASUS VG248QE) but am wanting to upgrade to either a Samsung Odyssey G5 or G7 which are both 1440p monitors. I have seen a few times that getting a 3070 is overkill unless you have a 1440p ultrawide monitor so would I be better off sticking to a 3060ti? Also if I were to stick with the 3070 would paying an extra £50 for the RX 6800 be worth it?

And lastly, I changed my RAM from 3600Hz to 3200Hz after I saw something about a problem between ASUS boards and 3600Hz RAM so switched it, is this true or should I go back to the 3600Hz?

Thanks.

It's a very nice build! I've looked for Cyberpunk 2077 high settings 1440p with 3060Ti and I'd be around 104 fps, with DLSS on would be 55+ fps. If you want more in the higher end, then go fo 3070, but I doubt it's worth the money if a monitor isn't ultrawide.

Is dlss not meant to improve fps or am I mistaken?

Okay thanks, I think I'll go for the 3060Ti since there isn't a great difference in fps for the much larger price. Then I'll put the extra money saved toward a new monitor.

3070 isn’t overkill if you’re going to play Cyberpunk at 1440p. Not sure where people get these fps’s from, but i get 130fps on cyberpunk at 1080p on lowest settings lol and i’m using a 3070.

I’d say the 6700XT is the best value for money at the moment though.
