How much difference would there be by putting in an ssd over a regular hard drive. Also I really like your suggestions.

a noticeable difference in speed. Loads things like a bolt. I popped it in since you will solely gaming most with general use, the ssd is just treated to boot the pc and store programs or applications etc etc while the 2nd Hard drive is used for storage for your music, photos etc etc.

cpu - this is fine as it is as the "k" is more of the times for overclocking and overclocking isnt really going to benefit you.

motherboard - same as the Pro but the Pro just has a few extra features which won't be used or benefit for gaming.

ram - the 1333Mhz is fine since 1600Mhz is not really a noticeable different so the saved money could be invested in something else. Although 4gb is enough to run the system smoothly, i left it in there as 8gb is alot but can be lowered to be invested.

ssd - as mention above, fast boots and loads which saves alot of time

2nd hard drive - storage

psu - enough for everything with some breathing room.

cpu cooler - its enough to keep temps low

anti virus - you can save yourself if not needed as there are alot of great anti viruses out there that are free like MSE and AVG etc but thats my personal recommendation. The norton is fine if you feel more comfortable with it :)

everything is all future proof except 1 thing which is if you ever plan on adding a second 580 or a lower setup in Nvidia cards, you will need to get a bigger psu since 2 580 will draw alot of power an will run some heat along with changin the motherboard to have SLI capabilities. but if not what you have now is an all built rounder gaming spec :)

If you want you could also drop the anti-virus and make use of the excelent free ones out there, such as avast and security essentials :) will save you a few quid

The build which Teaz listed is perfect.
an SSD difference is like night and day, you would experiece much faster loading time, especially for your Operating system and the programs that you are going to install on it.

I would also go for a larger SSD. I've got that SSD and it's great, but go for the 160gig for not a huge price difference.
Something you need to allow for, as far as "future proofing" goes, bigger, better games will and do take up more space. If you can spring for the 320GB SSD, I would, and drop say to a 750WD Backup or core storage drive.
I've only installed a few things, not even steam (as I had to re-install) and I'm down 25% on the SSD 120GB. Steam will take me a lot lower.

I'd also look to spring the extra for a large PSU :) Just again to allow for any upgrades. Never hurts :D

Thats if he can stretch his budget :p since adding the ssd was just about hit his budget. abit of his money was invested on the monitor aswel as warrenty so i popped him the 120gb ssd.

If not i think the other best option would be the 570 setup which is also a good choice but quite hard on the budget :whistling:

Have you already got an O/S you could use Bentem? Or is it critical you need to buy it?

Teaz

Godlike
nope. the 570 and 580 are nearly about the same in performence so not a long drop in performance like fps or so. two 570 will over power 580 if in SLI. the ssd doesnt really affect the gaming performence, its just for fast boots aswel as loading since it saves alot of time compared to hdd.

If tight on budget, then i would suggest the AMD build if thats okay? Or going for the AMD GPUs which are still really good.

This is you could consider if you go for the gtx 570s setup (or single 570 to save money):

Case
CORSAIR GRAPHITE SERIES™ 600T GAMING CASE

Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™i5-2500 Quad Core (3.30GHz, 6MB Cache) + HD Graphics

Motherboard
ASUS® P8P67 PRO (NEW REV 3.0): USB 3.0/SATA 6Gb/s, CrossFireX™ & SLI

Memory (RAM)
4GB SAMSUNG DDR3 DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 2GB)

Graphics Card
1.25GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 570 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - DX® 11, 3D Vision Ready

2nd Graphics Card
1.25GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 570 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - DX® 11, 3D Vision Ready

Memory - 1st Hard Disk
120GB INTEL® 320 SERIES SSD, SATA 3 Gb/s (upto 270MB/sR | 130MB/sW)

2nd Hard Disk
1TB WD CAVIAR GREEN WD10EARS, SATA 3 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE

1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM

Power Supply
CORSAIR 850W TX SERIES (TX850) 80+ ULTRA QUIET PSU (£99)

Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)

Network Facilities
ONBOARD GIGABIT LAN & WIRELESS 802.11N 300Mbps PCI CARD (£16)

USB Options
6 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL (MIN 2 FRONT PORTS) AS STANDARD

Operating System
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit - inc DVD & Licence (£79)

Anti-Virus
NORTON 360 SUITE - 1 Year Licence for upto 3 PCs (£45)

Monitor
IIYAMA E2271HDS 22" LED WIDESCREEN, HDMI/DVI-D HD 1920x1080 (£139)

Surge Protection
6 Socket Compact 2M UFO Surge Protector (£9)

Warranty
3 Year Gold Warranty (2 Year Collect & Return, 2 Year Parts, 3 Year Labour) (£69)

Total: 1746

Over you budget by £46 but if you are able to go that for in gaming, then its a nice setup :)

If done with the AMD cards you can op for a setup of the 6950 or a single 6970 by sorting out those areas:

Motherboard
ASUS® P8P67 (NEW REV 3.0): USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GB/s, CrossFireX™

Graphics Card
2GB AMD RADEON™ HD6950 - 2 DVI,HDMI,2 mDP - DX® 11, Eyefinity 4 Capable

2nd Graphics Card
2GB AMD RADEON™ HD6950 - 2 DVI,HDMI,2 mDP - DX® 11, Eyefinity 4 Capable

indeed that not all games benefit multi setups but the price isnt very far from his budget, plus its just s suggestion :)

I am always in favour of get the best single GPU you can and leave yourself a strong enough power supply for future sli/crossfire upgrades, my last system had a GTX280 in it and that played everything maxed out for 2 and a half years (i would very happily still of had it now if the card had not failed) so i would single GTX580 it should still be pulling it's weight in a couple of years.
