Hi guys,

My name is Carl, but you will see me on here as radiocaf (An alias that I have used since I was 7 and first online, it stands for Radio <my full initials>.) You can kind of guess what I wanted to be when I was 7, I am now 24 and working no where near a radio station.

After a massive amount (I mean years) of to-ing and fro-ing as to whether I wanted to drop such a lump of cash on a proper gaming computer, I have finally decided to take the plunge before I can no longer afford it and regret not ever doing it. My research (and a TV advert) led me to this website, and after realizing the vastly better pricing as opposed to the likes of Alienware, Mesh, MSI, and some other companies, I figured I wanted my first ever gaming rig from the PC Specialists.

I first wanted a desktop, but I just don't have the space for one anymore, and a laptop I can take wherever I go. I'm just going through the painful wait of watching it's process on my order screen, it's into it's 8th Working Day and it's pre-processing still.

I'd like to think I know my way around a computer, so hopefully you won't get many stupid questions from me, but I am anxious to find out more about your rigs, especially if they are similar to mine, and to learn more about PC gaming before I am presented with my laptop. I have already browsed the forums unregistered and can see this is a very helpful, extremely friendly community that I would be proud to be a part of.

Welcome radiocaf :)

Dont worry we've all been there with "checking the order status 100 times a day" thing. Its excruciating to say the least.

In anycase, there are many knowledgable people that frequent these forums (unfortunately i am not one of them) but you have come to the right place for informative and friendly banter :)

Ah, thanks for the welcome guys! Just realized I forgot to post my spec, but if anyone is interested I ordered the Vortex IV 780 review build.

Before finding it (thanks to a friendly member of this forum showing me the reviews section) I had a quote for the exact same build, except to bring it within budget I had to compromise on the graphics card (AMD Radeon HD 8970, rather than the NVIDIA GeForce 780M), the two HDDs (No SSD, but two 5400RPM drives), the memory (8Gb Samsung) and the optical drive (standard DVD±RW drive.) My quote did have the i7-4800K though, Dead Pixel Guarantee and Arctic Thermal Compound... Oh and fast track build lol ;).

So when I found the review build was exactly what I wanted, and a little bit more, for practically the same price, I jumped at the opportunity.

Hi radiocaf and welcome!

That's a nice spec, the general wisdom here is that the Arctic Extreme Thermal Paste is well worth the extra cash. :)

I know, but I didn't want to bump my price back up by almost £200 just for a £9 treatment of paste, so I'll add it myself when I get the laptop, maybe.

It's only £9 more for the Arctic Extreme Thermal Paste,or have I missed something.

I assume you chosen the one in the review section? You can probably ask PCS if it could be added.

Dude, order the review model... then ring up PCS sraight away and ask them to build it with arctic paste and they'll be fine with that I reckon and just charge you 9 quid.
