Hi i need some help deciding whats best for a video editing/gaming P.C ill be doing HD recording using a hauppage HDPVR, editing using Adobe after effects sony vegas Cinema 4d,Gaming to.

Specs iv'e chosen so far:

Intel® Core™i7-2600k Quad Core

ASUS® P8Z68-V: USB 3.0, NVIDIA®SLI™, ATI®CrossFireX

8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3

1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 Ti

120GB INTEL 320 SERIES SSD

500GB WD CAVIAR BLACK

TITAN FENRIR EVO EXTREME

CORSAIR 850W TX SERIES

I would of preferred Intel SSD 510 120GB but i cant stretch my budget any further, will the intel 320 perform good in my motherboard? is there a big real world difference in performace between a sata 2 ssd and a sata 3 ssd.would i be better off getting two 500GB WD hdds on Raid0 ? Will i benifit from using ssd over a dual hdd raid setup?

Also any help on a good case to get my budget is £79

Thanks for Any advice in advance

£79? Typed wrong... I think by the sounds of it that you don't need an ssd although with that board you have an option to choose a cache drive which may be better for your budget, a gtx 570 gfx card may also be a smart investment if you can. You also do not require the 'k' version as that is for over clocking, no benefit over normal i7 other than that

The Titan fenrir is also not really required
Because you probably won't be over clocking and the triple copper should be fine, the Titan is also massive and most of the time it blocks your side fan, then the rest of your board will suffer

The 1600 ram is also not required, 1333 samsung ram will do you fine

Id actually say that the SSD will deffinately help, especially if you put your main HD video you are editing on the SSD, from the sizes of files ive seen in the past this could easily be bigger than the total size of ram and therefore having on an SSD will increase swapping speed (speed at which data swaps between ram and hdd) massivley.

RAM wise, id actually say stick with the 1600 again because of the nature of the work you are doing. I wouldnt go any higher than that but I also would be careful about dropping to the 1333.

As for everything else wozza said, I agree about the 570 is you want a bit more gaming power, although the 560 Ti is still a really good card. And unless you plan to overclock deffinately drop the k varient cpu.

First off thanks for your reply, I men't £79 budget just on a case my budget for the whole build is £1,220, the main thing i wanted to know was if the intel 320s would perform better than a dual hdd raid0 setup, i am planning on overclocking not much though.I don't really game much i play xbox360 way more i want it mainly for HD editing and recording also 3d animation. Thought the gtx 560 ti would be a good choice not the best but still good for editing plus a bit of gaming. Any suggestions?

Well I think it's the 690 that's £79 and it's got good cooling etc

If you are an experienced over clocker you may be ok with the normal i7 still as it can still be over clocked it's just a bit harder and it doesn't go much past 4ghz

Yes the Ssd should perform much better than RAID

Thanks for your kind advice that cleared the ssd issue up i was having. How would i drop to 1333 i don't understand, how do i prevent that from happening? i will be overclocking so ill keep the k ill probably upgrade my graphics at a later date, as it doesn't play a bit role in editing stuff apart from apps that support cuda and 3d animation, so gtx 560 ti should be good enough. :)

Do you know how many fans you get with that case, is the 922 better its says it comes with three fans.

Im not an experienced overclocker that's why i thought the 2600k would be good because its easier i want to run @ say 4.5 not to sure yet thanks man.

Why don't u just buy a pre-overclocked processor from PCS, they aren't that much more expensive and the clock for i7 will be 4.8GHz

If you are op dr locking then you will need the 1600 ram it doesn't even give you the option for 1333 on the overclocked section

I don't know how many fans you get but I think they give you a front, back, top and 2 small side fans, I can't check at the moment my iPad doesn't let me scroll across to the other cases I'll find out as soon as I get my laptops Internet working
