Noob looking at getting a Gaming PC

Citrus_9

Expert
Honestly @Citrus_9 I don't mind, it doesn't really matter
I like a PC case @sck451 has recommended more than I have put in my specs, but I've done it for a reason: COOLERMASTER MASTERBOX TD500 has already 3 prebuilt front intake fans while the 4000D has only 1 intake in front and 1 exhaust in the back. Both aren't ideal. And that's just because a PC case choice is currently not the best.

4000D case is very very good, but this is where things get more interesting - need to add extra case fans to have 3 front intake and 1 rear exhaust. That means 2 extra fans. But PCS don't sell separately those same fans which are being used in the 4000D case. If you don't care about aesthetics, you can get 2 extra cheap fans from PCS, but they unfortunately aren't great (they're a bit loud and not great performance).

I believe these case fans are the ones in the below link if you want to get and mount them yourself. Or simply take 3 extra RGB fans for front from PCS. You'd then end up with one spear fan from this PC case.

I liked a lot @sck451 storage suggestion, so I've amended this build and thinking some about this:

A specs configurator won't let to continue with this configuration due to extra fans. Would need to buy without and try to amend a purchase by adding them.

Making the overall budget €2750? If we go for the Samsung from that site @Citrus_9 recommends (presuming it's reliable: I've never heard of it for obvious reasons) for €300, we can go up to €2450 if we include the Corsair bundle.

That can get you quite a bit more, probably upgrading at least some of case, CPU, motherboard and graphics card. I'd probably leave the graphics card as it is, as there will be insignificant returns from any upgrade, and do the other three.

(The advantage of having RGB lighting is that if you have it you can turn it off, whereas if you don't have it you can't turn it on!)

Yep, I think this is a much better option than my above with 5600X as for an updated (increased) budget 5800X is a better performance CPU. I'd just think maybe H115i would be better as runs hot, H110i is a minimum for it. It's of course absolutely fine, but I'm always very cautious with temperatures. Oh wait, it wouldn't be supported in this PC case. Ah, nevermind 😂

I agree, but it won't fit in that case. Other cases require messing around with fans, which is not ideal, and the MB530P is, in my opinion, completely gorgeous. In any case, I think the H100i would be ample.

Completely agree, looked it myself and amended above. So yeah, I think your recommended specs are well balanced, looking good and beautifully fit the budget! 🤩 (y)

I shall be hopefully ordering the PC today or tomorrow, just two questions.

1. Any last-minute suggestions or changes.

2. I have decided to purchase an OS system, where should I select to have it installed. M.2/PCI-E SSD drive or mechanical hard drive

Install it on the fastest m.2 without a doubt !

Yep, it's a strong build, good for future upgrades if needed. Capable of doing nearly everything from gaming, streaming to video editing. Nice and good performing PC case. And it's 1440p! I'd be happy buying it to myself ;)

If you read what I'm writing, you will be aware that this is precisely what I would recommend except that I don't know where to buy monitors in Ireland.
I`m also in Ireland and I`d check Elara.ie or laptopsdirect.ie as they both have a decent selection of screens . I might also add Argos.ie or littlewoods.ie as they are local also :) So build the PC here at PCS and buy the screen from the stores I mentioned . As for the screen itself , what size would you like to have ? 27" and above ? or 34" and above ?

Ordered at AOC 27” from Amazon, however might cancel the order and re order from somewhere else as they aren’t giving my a delivery date.
What would you recommend

Laptopsdirect.ie have a couple of good looking options right now. You have the LG 27GN800-B (1440p 144Hz IPS flatscreen) and the electriQ 34SUWD144FSHQ (3440x1440 ultrawide 144Hz VA curved screen) both at €400. I'd probably go for the LG myself, but I strongly dislike curved screens; I know that isn't everyone's view.

Just a quick question.
AOC monitor arrived now just waiting for the PC hehehe
Just a quick question. AOC monitor will be my main gaming one. Would it affect performance if I hooked up a second monitor just to have while I'm playing games
