That needs some adjustments, if you can let know your monitor details (Resolution and refresh rate, or make and model), budget & post the configuration link we can sort it for you

Thanks for taking the time to do that Martin!

just out of curiosity, what are the justifications for the changes? Im not asking that to question you but more to help me learn where ive gone wrong as im in-experienced when it comes to PC Building.

thanks

your monitors were the main problem, they are basically ok for running office software on but not high end gaming, so i created you a 1440p build that has a good solid base and will last 7-10 years with a couple of GPU upgrades on the way.

The changes to the storage give you a 1TB HDD for general storage, a really fast 500GB M.2 for the OS and programs so everything loads nice and fast, and a slightly slower 1TB M.2 for your games, so if you have to do a clean install of Windows you wont have reload all your games

I've always planned to upgrade the monitors eventually however i was mainly focused on getting the PC Built with that 2k budget, then ill do the monitors after as i have a these 2 monitors, a ps4 and the monitor i have with that to sell which i will then use on the PC Monitors, one like you've suggested. Although i cant do anything without dual-monitor nowadays so there will be 2 getting added to the basket lol!

as for the HDD and SSD, my initial thoughts were to put the OS and the high spec games (CoD, Warzone, Battlefield etc.. on the SSD that i had selected then have the HDD for all other storage and the lower spec games.

If you go ahead with the build on your existingg monitors its going to be severely bottle necked, which is why I did you a really good spec for £1700 leaving you £300 for a decent monitor now out of your £2k budget

You're way better off with the storage that i put in the spec, you'll be greatful of it when you have to da clean install of the OS.

For the record I've 6 internal drives in my PC

oh yeah i understand that, but the screen will be bought, just a week or 2 after the pc or however long it takes to sell my current PC and the 2 current monitors, with that it mind would you still not go with the 2k build i'd initially put together?

also, how comes you've changed the case and the cooler?

If the £2000 is just for the PC and you will be buying a 1440p monitor shortly, then this build, based on the one from @Martinr36 gives you a more powerful processor with 8 cores like the latest consoles. However, it will be bottlenecked by your current monitors.

I think there is a typo on the RAM speed here, @Martinr36. I am sure you meant 3200MHz.

Morning Bigfoot,

thanks for the reply. What do you mean by the term bottlenecking when it comes to the monitor? Is it just that I won’t get the full benefit of the pc until I get the monitors?
Thanks

Yes, your current monitors will be the bottleneck. You would need to spend around £300 to get a suitable monitor. There are often deals that will take the price a bit below this, but you can also spend more.

So in terms of builds alone, ignoring the monitors. What is the better build? The one I’d put together are the one with Martin’s changes?

With either build your current monitors will restrict performance. If budget allows my build will give you more power and might future proof you a bit more. New generation consoles have 8 core CPUs, so games are likely to be developed to take advantage of this. The 5600x is still good for gaming, though.

If your maximum budget is £2000 including monitor, I would go with the @Martinr36 build. If you can stretch to £2200, I would go for the 5800x and the monitor. There are a few 1440p monitors around the same price point, including the Samsung G5 referenced above.

24" is 1080p which is really an old resolution and not really supported anymore except on very entry level systems.

27" is 1440p.

It's not so much the size but the resolution that makes the difference.

But you can't get 1440p below 27", it would be too small.
