PC Doesn't handle games well?

Yeah I'll give them a call tomorrow.

I won't do a RMA though even if I get asked, I'll just wait til the new year to either buy a newer graphics card or look at an alternative product.

Don't get me wrong I am happy overall With the company itself.

+ one what steaky said, thing is the 660TI is a very capable card and should play most games no problem.it could be a faulty card,in which case,if PCS agree, they would probably arrange an RMA for the card itself, putting you at very little inconvenience.

Yeah, I guess so I'm just a little cheesed that I spotted an overclocked intel 3570k with a 660 for £100 cheaper than this build else where :/

Also as I live in Guernsey it will take a lot longer to send/receive the item again, and within that time I could get a new graphics card from elsewhere before pcs even receives it.

I'm currently running flight simulator 2004 @60fps high above the clouds but once I get to a dense scenery the fps drop to around 15fps.

Do you still think this is a faulty card?

It happens to all games in te middle of nowhere with little surroundings I get 70-80fps, then dense area or action packed area fps drop like flies to 20fps max.

:/

It shouldn't be happening, I had the 550Ti prior to upgrading and had no issues like that whatsoever. Definitely worth talking to PCS about it and sorting it out!

Great...I though I'll try and reinstall the drivers for the Palit Graphics card thus by uninstalling the other drivers turned out this was a bad idea.

Now the cd or computer doesn't recognise the card at all even with the cd supplied. Any suggestions? System restore perhaps?

Edit: fixed system restart

Many thanks and apologises for the hassle

No hassle!

The computer should recognise the card whether the graphics drivers have been installed or not - have you made sure the card is seated correctly?

If it is, a clean install of windows and all drivers should sort it out but I would try to reinstall the current drivers before you go down that route (after re-seating the card if neccessary).

Update, Graphics card now working again, fps however still the same.

Maybe its the Processor itself letting me down (more than likely) its a shame PCS doesn't allow people to do a complete remodel with RMA eg swap from AMD to intel.

Ah well phone call tomorrow, will let you know how it goes!

As the memory is usually the culprit in these cases, it may be worth getting it checked out, please find the RAM tester below:

[edit by Rakk: please don't link directly to zip files: if you're going to link, link to sites that can be checked first please]

If you go through the installer it will copy the files over to your USB drive.

Once the files have copied over restart the PC, tap F8/F10/F12 for the boot menu and select the USB stick from the list and the test will automatically run.

The test will run forever if you let it but usually problems are found within 1-2 hours so please run of for at least this amount of time.

If there is Any errors then phone PCS up and Request RMA

Ah, or I could do the easier option and replace the ram sticks?

I'd much rather phone up pcs first, rather than going through a long risky system check which takes 2 hours. If it is faulty RAM then "new" hardware breaking this quick is odd, I thought testing and QC would of found problems.

I was expecting this system to last longer than my last one from pcs (1 year)

You are right to call PCS before doing anything else, no point in replacing the sticks yourself if they end up no being faulty (if they are PCS will RMA them for you!)

Unfortunately it is entirely possible for hardware to fail at any time and isn't too unusual. It is true that typically stuff will either fail early on or not for a while but there are no guarantees.

Right phoned PCS up, the best thing I can do is some test on the PC.

Or she just doesn't run well on older games, so I'll try a few nerwer games to see how I do.

Its possible I guess, if you run a benchmarking program it might give you some confidence there are no hardware related issues - some older games are just not optimised very well for newer hardware - sometimes using the Beta drivers from Nvidia can help.

Right ran all the test no problems..... today took it to a local specialist, they basicly said it is the processor letting me down. They said if I wish (I was/am considering sending it back) they could replace the MB and CPU for me with a much newer I7 as they said they would rather do that they buy it off me as its a "decent" system, They also highly recommend PCS.

Sure the PC System choice is my mistake and sure if they replace the CPU and MB I do loose my Warrenty with PCS but I do gain one with them.

Now I have a choice..... Send the PC back to PCS at the weekend? or upgrade the CPU and MB?

I would send it to PCS for a second opinion and I'd have expected the FX-6200 to provide decent performance with the GTX 660 ti, you could perhaps consider overclocking the CPU but for most games that are gpu dependant your system is pretty solid.

Nah I don't want to overclock it. Turbo boost doesn't seem to give it a punch anyway.

I also phoned PCS it was them who told me to run the test. And when I say "send back to PCS I mean as in refund send back" the reason why as it doesn't do what I wanted it to do, its got the same if not worse performance than my older cheaper build.

If I sent it back I would WANT the money back not for an RMA. I would then in the new year or next month for and Intel model since I'll have more money, even though the replacement CPU/motherboard would be cheaper as I't'll be done local. (And its cheaper else where sadly)

As far as I know PCS won't offer refunds as it is a custom product rather than off the shelf. I read somewhere else on the forums that by law they are entitled to fix the problem before having to offer you a refund.

Ah,

Well its not a problem with the computer as I'm using it now, its just a problem for the type of game I would like it to run. I've only had the pc 6 days....its within the 14 days return.

If not new CPU then!

Edit: Just read the "Returns Policy" .......nope.

I think it is 7 workings days beginning after you receive the product.
